60 series leaking, water in footwells......
I have had this issue with my cruiser for quite some time now. When it pours down, (which is does frequently in the wet season in North Queensland) I find a puddle of water on the floor in the footwells. I have a sunroof, which I taped up but still get the water. I taped up the grill at the front of the windscreen, (I have been told they can rust out inside of here) and still get water in the footwells. (I have taken off the inspection plates and the wiper motor and inside is in good condition, no leaves or rust....)
I am starting to lean towards the front door alignment and seals, as I can't find any trace of water running down the inside of the firewall anywhere, but I have found moisture on the bottom inside the seal area of the front doors. Looking at the front doors they have dropped slightly, and I think there maybe a small gap at the lower front edge between the frame and door in the guard area. I put new door seals on last year, but they were aftermarket ones and I dont have much faith in them, might look at getting toyota ones if available and if reasonable in price....
Is there anyone else out there with a 60 that has had or is suffering from this same issues?
At the moment I have my cruiser in the shed doing a rebuild, front diff, suspension, motor and box are out, for reco. (should have the block, crank, rods and head back today). So I cant really get it out side and hose it to test it. Also, whilst the engine and box is out it would be easier to fix a leak from the engine bay area, if it were from there....
Any suggestions??
thanks,
MB

it sometimes just drops straight down from the top of the windscreen to the floor.
sometimes its the bottoms of the windscreen
sometimes its the middle at the top or bottom, and runs down along the seal and drips.
get someone with a hose on " shower" and hit the roof and windscreen with it while you are inside watching, You will soon see the drip drip.

Also try pulling off the kick panel in the foot well.... I found water dribbling down behind that and going into the foot well making all the carpet wet.
I havn't worked out if it is coming from the windscreen seal or the gutter channel running down the A pillar( I found some cracks in the caulking they use so thought it may even be coming from there)
Hope that helps.

When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!
I had the same prob. Finally traced it to where the air intake for the fan/air con is. There was a build up of mud around the lip of it which allowed water to come in through and around the fan.and onto the floor. If you take the wiper motor off it's right behind that. It could be the problem or not but worth a look.
hey guys,
i've had 2 60 series landcruisers and both had this problem. there are 2 places where i could see the water coming in. I work at a car wash and run it threw the touchless automtaic wash(hi pressure water) and it would come in where the door seals are and in the little side windows if this helps any. door seals from toyota aint cheap so i have never bothered to fix them so cant be 100% sure thats the only place it comes in but hope it helps you

Big_60series, I reckon mine is leaking around the door seals too, somewhere around the front of the door, near the top hinge. I am hoping that some adjustment on the hinge might fix it......
I bought some aftermarket door rubbers for $50.00 each, they are ok but the rubber is not where near as good a quality as the factory seals.
I have been too scared to price factory door seals..... that is if they are even still available....
