HID question.
Can you run two lights off a single ballast? I'm looking at running a second set of driving lights and converting them and my existing driving lights to HID. It would be much easier (and cheaper) if I could run two lights off one ballst.
Re: HID question.
you can get twin light ballast's but they are much more expensive and much harder to find.Emo wrote:Can you run two lights off a single ballast? There was a thread on just this subject within the last few months. One of the dedicated outer's trolls even went so far as to destroy several ballasts testing theories.
Conclusion was, no you cannot run two hid's off one "normal" ballast. In parallell only 1 light fires, in series you end up killing the ballast.
If you do a search im sure youl find the thread.

here
on4tou on this board sells a ballast that can run 2 35watt lights.

Emo, do a search for Bushy's posts.. (He's posted in the "Cheap Chinese HID" thread). He was the bloke who's done shiteloads of random stuff with HID's and put it on youtube.
Anyway, stop being a tightarse and just buy another set of lights..

Yell out when you're ready to do them and I'll come over and drink your beer while "supervising"..

Depends..Emo wrote:Hey Macca, which ones should I get?

Do you have any problems with buying from a "dodgy chinese ebayer"? If you do, get hold of Steve (on4tou) on here or http://www.on4tou.com.au. Otherwise, I bought mine from omg_so_cool_car. I think Hiking1978 was another recommended seller.
What sort of lights are they that you're putting them in to? (More specifically, what globes do they take?)
Colour: You've seen mine - were they too blue at 6000k? If they were, get 4300k or 5000k lights. Personally, if I get more/replacements, they'll be 5000k next time.
Power: Mine are only the 35 watt ones. I did think about getting the 50/55w ones, but I have enough problem with getting blinded by the reflection off street signs. Ask HB what he thought when he was following me to Beachport.

Two 35w bulbs. One 45w ballast.
Two bulbs, one ballast - series, take 1.
