Can anyone supply me with the hole centres and diameters and the required dimensions for the slot in a bullbar for a hawse fairlead.
I missed the shops tonight and my weekend project is being held up until I get one or get the dimensions.

I was wondering if anyone had the dimensions for a hause fairlead. I am looking for the opening dimensions in particular, but if you have the outside dimensions too that would be great.

You looking to make your own? I believe it's a 10" bolt pattern, and the rest is really not too particular, as long as you make it big enough to keep the rope off the winch mounting plate.

I am talking about a hawse. Is that how you spell it. No wonder I did not have much luck searching.
I am making a rear bumper with a winch mounted about 5.5" behind the leading edge of the bumper. I don't have a hause fairlead handy and I am trying to figure out how big the hole in the winch mounting plate should be.
As an aside, I was thinking about taking some small DOM tubing and welding it around the edge of the opening to make sure that there are not any rough edges to snag the rope. What do you think? Good idea or overkill?

My hawse fairlead (off a Ramsey REP 8000) is 11.5" long by 3" tall at it's tallest point.
The opening is 8.5" long by 1" wide. It's around 3/4" thick. Bolt pattern is 10" with 3/8" holes.

This idea works well. I've done this on a few bumpers. Just make sure you blend in and smooth out the area that will make contact.

Thanks for the info Sean and Chopfab and confirmation that my idea is not complete shiat Oddcarma.
Has any one seen or built a bumper that has the hawse fairlead recessed into the bumper?
Since this is a rear bumper I am slightly concerend about slamming it down on rocks and possibly hanging up on it or more likely ripping it right off the bumper when coming down off obstacles.
Also, if the mounting point for the fairlead is not vertical but on a slant, do you think the vertical dimensions the hawse should be larger since the tipping it at an angle reduces the opening (like when you move off center on goal in hockey it becomes a harder shot even though the size of the net never changes)? If that makes sense, or again am I thinking about this too much?

3 to 3.5 inches tall with a 7.25 wide opening a .750 (at least) wide slot and at least 1/2 of material from throug hole to end of lead. Smooth radius on front and back are required for a long rope life.
