LPG vapor injection
I have the 1hz engine in it with a after market dts turbo. I have heard that adding a LPG vapor injection to it will increase the power by atlease 20% if not more. Im not to sure on it, so if someone can enlighten me on the situation.

I have Diesel Gas in my 2L powered 4 runner, it makes a difference but I couldn't put a percentage on it.
It's significant enough not to require crawling up decent hills on the highway in 2nd gear running 33's.........
It is an expensive exercise to do, I'm not sure but I think the govt. has reduced the rebate down from the $2000 it was when I did mine.
Apparently it works really well on turbo motors though. It's worth a look my runner is alot more driveable now.

I have just had a D-Gas system fitted to my n/a 1HZ. It was 56kw at the rear wheels pre gas and now 70kw.
But It's overfuelled and scoffing gas at a ratio of 37%. But at the same time it has improved the the milage .
Drove 618km on 69 ltrs of diesel +25 ltrs of gas. Used to be 80+ltrs for 600km on diesel alone. It will be interesting to see what it's like once the fuel is adjusted (diesel and gas) as to how much the power gain drops and the fuel economy raises.

Looking at this system and what you get it seems expensive as there is not much to it. It has no moving parts and is all electrically controlled.
I had some issues with the installer but all ok now.

The kit I am looking at getting from from http://www.torquegas.com.au/html/diesel ... sions.html is only $1000 after rebate and that includes a dyno.
The way the guy explained it over the phone is its all controlled from a sealed electronic box that adjusts how much LPG etc is delivered. Tank on the 80 would either go under the back in lieu of the spare tyre or alternatively they can fit a smaller longer tank under the passengers side.
I think i would rather the larger tank at the back and hence have not progressed it yet as now am looking at how to build up a spare carrier although I could just carry it in the back short term I suppose...

I have a torquegas system on my HJ61. Works well - when it works....
The pickup in the tank is designed to collect vapour only (high pressure). The sealed (clacker) box only contains a pressure switch and is only opened when given a signal from a relay. The relay only switches when 1. the dash mounted lpg switch is on, 2. the throttle is off idle (or wherever you set the switch on the diesel pump) and 3. when there is an engine run signal (usually off tacho or oil pressure). The box does NOT regulate mixture or flow - it only allows gas to pass at a given pressure. The pressure switch clacks away and can be adjusted slightly - but they never touch them. A holley-style main jet is fitted to the box and this determines how much gas vapour is drawn into the engine (along with slight vacuum in the intake piping, revs etc.). It really only gives a 1 point calibration. It's a 5 minute job to drill / change jet sizes to achieve the best mixture.
Another thing - everyone seems to claim that EGTs drop with gas. This is incorrect. So, watch your tuning. I aim for <500 post turbo at full noise uphill in third gear.

That exactly the sort of feedback I was wanting.. How long ago did you get it fitted as my mate got one fitted by them about 2 years back and nothing but dramas but when I rang them a few months back they said they had ironed them all out and are using different parts - do I believe them??
I have the Diesel Gas Australia kit fitted, which has a throttle sensor and computer to control the amount of gas that is put into the airstream by the injector. I looked into DGas systems and found that they only pump a fixed amount, which would use more gas I am told. I have had no problems whatsoever with my Diesel Gas and my mechanics even have 2 different computer settings for my gas system depending on what type of driving I'll be doing.

I have an LPGAS1 kit on my 3L turbo/intercooled diesel, works well, 18% horsepower. 22% torque, 7% saving in $$ per 100km when diesel was around the $1.80

I tried calling the Sydney number for LPGAS1 today and it went to message bank all day :( . Not the kind of service I would want if I had a kit fitted with a problem or was it some kind of public holiday down there?
I am sad to hear that Torquegas has such a bad reputation as I had the Mrs convinced that it was money well spent and all ready to be booked in.. must be a reason why they are the cheapest I suppose.

Don't get me wrong - the Torquegas system is good. For my mechanical 12h-t, it is fine and offers a noticable addition to performance.
I'm not aware of any replacement of the system over time - it's only a tank and a pressure switch.
Keep it simple, stupid !!

I've gat an Eco-Shot system fitted to my 01 3.0lt TD Hilux I had a few teething problems when first fitted but all sorted out. In all a good kit and worth looking into. I would sugest you fit a pyrometer to your vehicle, in the exhaust manifold before you fit the gas so you can see what your EGT is before the mod and after the mod because it will increase. I wish I had done this before I fitted mine as it is hard to find infomation about standard EGT's. I now have 2 fitted one in the exhaust manifold and one in the dump pipe and the temp drops about 150 Deg C across the turbo. EGT will be your biggest problem but if you can keep an eye on it you will be able to prevent melted pistons.
