NON Retractable seat belts.
NON Retractable seat belts.
I'm sick of not being able to put my seatbelt back on if I release it on a hill.
I want to fit NON retractable belts but can't find any.. Are they all extinct?
Does anyone know where I'd get a pair with the flexi wire type (receiver stalk) floor mounted bits?
I have looked at some Falcon ones but the receiver stalk is way too long.
Jas.

Out of a Sierra ute or 1.0 litre.
Bear in mind retractable are an ADR thing, so AFAIK it's illegal to fit fixed belts to a car originally fitted with retractable belts
We have a car going though engineers here in melb atm and even though it was originally a 1.0 with fixed belts, the engineer demanded retractable belts be fitted.
There you go.

im sure someone will want to swap there non retractables for your retracies.
are yours the kind that bolts into a space inside the bottom of the B pillar. I have a set that bolts to the floor (non retract) that im sure i could through in a box and send up to the sunny end of aus.

Well it took a bit longer than I thought it would but I got to ask the local engineer about seatbelts (Via Wellsey.. thanks mate).
Mr Yates said that as long as there are no mods to belts or the vehicle (IE: they bolt straight in) & they meet ADR's then non retactable belts are fine and no mod plate needed.
That was great news until I realised I need to modify the vehicle to fit the non retract belts.
A 3 or 4mm plate with a captive nut welded behind it and bolted to the bottom of the pillar where the reel goes should do it.

How did you go with Hemco? My non-retracs are freyed to shit, so i need another set. I bought some retracs out of a Swift, but they dont fit as theyres no recessed space in the B-pillar down the bottom for the reel to fit; the seat hits it.want33s wrote:Thanks Bog,
I've sent an enquiry to the first mob (Hemco).
The second link you posted is an american company so belts won't be ADR compliant.
Jas.
Hemco still haven't responded.PJ.zook wrote:How did you go with Hemco? My non-retracs are freyed to shit, so i need another set. I've been busy with other stuff so haven't chased it up.. They are still on the list so I will sort something, sometime.

yes. you can buy clips that are used i think as an accessory for 'baby seats' etc. Not sure if baby supply shops would sell em or not, apparently autobarn do..muppet_man67 wrote:wouldn't an easy solution be to just make some kind of clip that you can put on the belt for when your offroad so that it wont reel back in?
