applause cylinder head fit feroza?

Post by spaceone »

I'm new here, so I apologize if this was already answered.

I have a feroza (carb. engine) and I suspect that cylinder head is cracked (I replace gaskets, and I still have coolant leak and air in reservoar tank and now also cream under oil cap, means that coolant is mixing with oil).

While I was replacing gaskets I saw, that engine block and pistons are in very good condition.

Problem is, that is very hard to get a head for feroza or is very expensive. In other hand there are many applause parts sellers around here, so i'm curious if it is possible to mount cylinder head from applause on top of feroza block ? Probably from 67 kw applause (model X).

All other parts (manifolds, distributor) would be from feroza.
All I read here on this forum is, that is possible to replace whole engine, but what about only cylinder head?

For the cost and the amount of trouble, I'd go for the complete engine replacement.

The Applause head WILL fit, it's the same HD-C or HD-E engine, the main difference is in the Applause cam and a few othe minor things with the inlet manifold and oil colling.

Thanks for answering.

What troubles do you talking about ?

It's a lot easier to just replace head, than the complete engine.
So, is it better to take camshaft from feroza's head or keep it from applause?

Applause HD head bolts straight on - use existing manifolds.

Applause HD cam gives slightly more upper RPM power at the expense of a bit of low down torque - your choice, there's not a lot of difference.

HC head also bolts on but slightly different combustion chamber volume - so compression ends up slightly lower ( VERY hard to spot so.... ) Check the block - exhaust side at back, should say HD.

Cost from self server wreckers $50 approx..... New head gasket is F@#$%G expensive.
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Head gasket expensive?

On ebay is around 55 € (complete set).

But even if i would buy a complete engine, I would change gaskets, just to be on a safe side.
