ill agree i think the mounting point for the hinges are different on mq/mk and gq
Could they be made to have both mounting points? They sure look the same from outside the car.
This is not legal advice.

Yes they could.

see Mk/Mq mount onto the side on the bonnet (on the inside supports) and Gq mount flat on them (if this makes sence)

see on this picture the mounts are mounted Flat

Very interesting, good work mate.

Keen to see what you have in mind with regards to bonnet scoops.
I'm fitting a top mount intercooler soon 450mm wide x 300 deep.

Had a friend who used to make carbon bonnets.

First I would like to say yours are very well priced.

Are they complete carbon? or a surface layer of carbon then a few layers of glass?

When my friend was making them he told me (this is from the industry not the registry) that they cannot legally replace the frame the bonnet sits on as this is a structural part of the vehicle, however they can replace the panel 'skin' with out effecting anything as the skin is non structural.

his 2c.

as for re painting a carbon bonnet. If your going to do that, dont bother. realisticly the weight saving on a 2 tonne truck compared to the cost of getting it will not give you benficial power to weigh improvements. if your going to do that just get a glass one or not bother.

The main benefit in a carbon bonnet is that they look cool

if the guy has any, you could also get a carbon/kevlar one made up, its yellow and brown woven together and look sweet as well. its also a tougher material than straight carbon.

my 2c

hey looking at that u dont think u would be able to unbolt the hinges and swap them from a gq to an mq?? i kno they would half be around the wrong way with the flat side on outside instead of the inside but u just need to work from the inside then.

i mite get a set and have a play.

i cant see the gq hinges work oing on the earlyer model because if you look at the pcitures you can see the gq ones are mountes more to the out side ..///.......( look at the wiper panel and you can see what im on about

i think by justin looking at the pics it wouldnt be haed to mod them to fit mk mq buy just adding a flat plate to the original hinge to meet the gq mounts just and idear ill go and muck around with one of my mates trucks and let you know

Scoop to suit a 450x300 intercooler would be perfect.

If you had this I would more than likely buy one. No scoop and no sale for me.

I'd really love to see a GU option with 2 x standard scoops. I'm going W-2-A IC so it is purely for engine bay air flow and bling factor...

JT Fibreglass in Melbourne does fibreglass bonnets for MK, MQ, GQ and GU he does just a skin or a ribbed and hinge mounts. I,m pretty sure they are all under $400. He does carbin or Kevlar too. This is the Web site.
