i did a bit of a ring around of the transmission places and it seems nobody does manuals anymore. there are hundreds of auto reconditioning places but only a handfull of manual places and because of that they charge a fortune.

the next prob i get is because i bought the rebuild kit myself they wont do it. WTF is with that. its the same kit they buy but it didnt cost $400 dollars.

looks like im gonna have to have a shot at doin it myself.

Can someone tell me what size bearing puller i need to get? looking at an 8 inch one. will it be big enough??

It would be great if you could keep us updated on the progress. I've got to do the missus' box over the next couple of weeks (no pun intended) and some warning on the snags along the way would be helpful.

Did you get the lowrange kit?

As for the bearing puller I don't know how different it is but I rebuilt my transfer and only used a $100 press from trade tools. I never even cracked out the bearing puller.
