Toyota 1HDFT into a GU??

Post by sootygu »

While sitting hear at work with way to much time on my hands I was wondering if the Toyota 1HDFT multivalve turbo engine would fit in a GU.

I know a few people who have a L/C with this engine, they are a strong engine, no electronics, great potential with tuning and fuel economy is better than the TD42.

Probably the first thing that may be a problem is the exhaust on the opposite side.

Just filling in time but has anyone done or considered doing this.

& Do a search on exploreoz for "Project TONI"

http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/show ... hp?t=55478

Would be an awesome conversion once completed.

Now were talking.

All I have to do is find the room, time and money.

Plus permission from the Darl to spend 2-3 months in the garage, which is probably the most difficult bit.

O.K. don't do the chev BUT don't do the toyota I know the twin turbo is nice but if you want a twin turbo ring diesel tec in lilydale and get them to do a td42tt, he's quoted as the place with many 150rwkw patrols and thats only single spinners, cheaper to

it would actually be a pretty easy swap, hardest bit would be adapting the gearbox/transfer.
if it was auto id use a toyota box and if it was manual id use the nissan box
is there an adaptor around to go from the yota auto to a nissan transfer?
