Where can i go to get one in the sydney area other than snake racing ?

Snake arm needs 80's rod ends which means new stering arms are also needed.......

Your after the one that goes from Hub to hub right?

The 80series tie rods will fit if this is what you are after.

What I think he is saying is that the 80 series tie rod ends will fit into your arms. Or another way to put it is the taper on the rod end is the same. But I have been wrong before

Yes the taper is the same. If you buy the rods to suit 80 series Tierod ends you will need the matching 80series ends which will fit your 40series arms.
I would not buy a strengthened steering arm and then still use 40series rod ends they will break next. You can buy aftermarket 80series rod ends for around $40 each.

Snake turn up a bush to fit the 80 end to your original steering arm
so you don't have to change any thing exept the rods and tie rod ends

hope this helps

I just pulled off one end and slipped a piece of 4mm wall tube around it and got it welded it on at each end.

This works better than nothing but it will still bend and when it does you are going to have a hard time straightening it. I tried a few different ways and all failed including this way.

Im now running a Cromo 38mm rod from www.core4x4.com.au and have a dint in the front of my rock guard on the front of my diff housing from it flexing back when pushed against rocks but it is still absolutly straight.

I beleive the Snake Racing ones are only Bright Mild Steel?

Solid 4140 chromoly steel.

I can jack the whole front end of my rig up on the tie rod bar and it don`t bend.
Also do you remeber how bent my front housing was? Well the tie rod bar also looked bent while it was in the lux, but once it was taken out it was 100% straight.

Something has to be the weak point, and as it stands now I would probably stand an equal chance of breaking a tie rod end instead of bending it, need bigger tie rod ends.

40 series taper is smaller than an 80 taper.

80 and hilux have the same taper.

I have seen a couple of SNAKE steering rods and they defently were not 4140 Chromo. This was a year or so ago so he may have changed.

Also 4140 would slightly BEND if you were jacking the complete wieght of the rig of it. It would then go back to normal. Thats the caracteristic of 4140!!!!

Speaking of bendy tie-rods, a few Oz Jeepers have picked up challenger tie-rods from the US (about US$90). They will flex back to the diff and spring back straight again. Don't know whether you can get them for other 4x4s but might be worth a look

SO I explained it wrong  at least the second bit explains how my rods react to being bent and staying staight better

Mine are 4140 moly and as far as I know so are the ones he sells now.

Maybe since bj`s were the first set they weren`t, I don`t know. :?
