Insurance -> My turn!

Post by bogged »

Got my renewal from TCIS, using Allianz, currently renewal says $27,751 MARKET value, and $658 to insure. Bit pissed off, it runs out 2/1/03, not much notice this time of year is it....?

So searching the archives, I got a few #'s.

Just called JUST CAR INSURANCE.

Offroad Excess of $1800! + the Normal Excess of $900, so if you crash you have to pay $2700 before you get repairs? What crack they smoking? Thats with Rating 1, and the quote was nothing special. Their "Agreed" value was pathetic. Also their AGREED value was $14,000!

Other option from TCIS was UNIQUE car Insurance. Agreed Value $25,000 and $718.98.... You also need a FULL BLACK wired car alarm or immobilizer. The alarm is $600+ and chances of getting fitted in time are 0.

Called the Aust 4wd insurance, but got answering machine. So Emailed that sdavidson@dgaininsurance.com.au I got her mail from another thread, now waiting. Tried their online application form, but not enough room for accessories and mods I have, so wait and see...

:D YMMV <- never

Sorry Bruce - but $658 for 27K worth of car - i reckon you should be laughing.

That doesn't sound very steep to me at all - particularly with all the other stuff that TCIS cover you for.

That is with TCIS as a broker using Lloyd's Insurance.

too right.. I CAN get insurance, but with a couple of tickets etc, being 21, off p's, but insurance don't care until you're 25.. I can't get SHIT on my 5, maybe 6k rangie, I'd have to spend 1200 for 3rd party / fire / theft..

I would HATE to know what comprehensive would be.. :x

All my mates and I have gone from RACQ or Suncorp to NRMA. My premium went from nearly $1000 RACQ to $445 NRMA (full comp both)but the best bit is NRMA cover offroad anywhere so long as I'm not competing :D

In the contract it states that I may "make my own tracks", RACQ weren't nearly that flexible for double the cost :roll:

I'm 21 with one license cancellation too and NRMA don't even have an excess for that :!: RACQ put a $600 excess on me :roll:

OH dont worry not complaining about the price or their Market Value....

Its that HEAPS of nasty stories about Allianz, 2 of them have not been paid, and been 2+ years stalling him gettin his $ in courts...

THeres cheap insurance then theres insurance that doesnt pay... theres a reason some are cheap... :cry:

~~~~~~~~~~
NRMA, one bloke on another forum mentioned his went up $100's in 1 year, no accidents claims fines NOTHING..
~~~~~~

Franks is what I want to hear! No problems when you NEED THEM. Might see what they can do..

By the way, Hows the Jabber now, comin for night run MOnday?

Keep trying and if you get them ask to speak to Daniel....he appears to be the modified vehicle expert....they will give you a cover note straight off....pay by the month is cool too :D
Just be *really* specific with brands and stuff, that way you get back what you ve spent.

Yeah Bruce, the Jabber was ready, went to pick it up last saturday and the auto eleccies stuffed a few things up mainly the immobiliser and some other simple wiring. I said I don't want it unless it's 100%. So it won't be ready to pick up until Jan 5th because of xmas etc. I'd rather wait a bit longer and have it done properly................

I am evidently being ROBBED by my insurance company. Might have to do a ring-around in the new year.

I'm stuck with Just Car Insurance cos everyone else only does 25+. No Hassle for me at 26 but I want my 21yo little bro covered too.

I agree the agreed value sucks but you can list all mods and the 4wding excess is for "off marked tracks... when you're bushbashing etc." I'm still chasing this up in writing but I'm under the impression that most won't cover you unless you're on a track.

Bzzzzzzzzzzz...... There are ones that will cover you anywhere... But you pay for it, but its worth it, as they can phuck you up with that statement. The age thing really fucks lots of people up, which I think stinks.

Few things to ask them.

"ANY TRACK AS LONG AS ITS ON A MAP"..
As them Whose map? You can tell them you have a map with that Track marked out... You could go home and use Oziexplorer to make tracks on an electronic map...!

"off marked tracks..."
Marked where, and by who?? What happens if its a bypass due to a deep creek, or a billion other things..? Are you covered?

Finally got a call from DGA, their price is more than double the one from Allianz thru TCIS.. They also only pay market value on accessories and the car.

TCIS it is.

I'd go with that, bogged
TCIS would only give me $4000 worth of accessories/mods and I have more than triple your amount!

BJ, I am sort of in the same boat as you...lots of fines, nearly done for dangerous driving and I am 19.

But thanks to dad, the turbo diesel Lux is fully comped, with me as a driver, for $480!
