body lift and rear diff
i am wondering how hard it is and wat i will need to do a body lft on my NG pajero aussie made model 4d56t , and yeah i want rear air lockers but who the hell has that kinda of money to waste ?? i have been told $750 + air tank and pump and stuff ???? but anyways is it ok to weld the rear and any done it did the axles last ?? and is it still ok to drive on the road.... or is it harder to drive it to .. my pajero is my family car so i still want a 4x4 but want to be able to drive it normal to...
Welding diffs is illegal for good reason. Unless it's a vehicle that you tow to events and only drive on anything but concrete or a sealed road then go ahead. But if you weld the diff and drive on the road you don't have any slippage so when you go round corners the inside wheel wan't to travel as fast as the outside wheel and you crabwalk your car.
If you can't afford lockers, just get an LSD, my NH came with one standard.

my brother has welded his diff for years in geminis. but they are not daily driving cars. having driven in his car i would never choose to do this. the car drives ok at speed on the road, but at certain speeds on long bends you get really scary and bad shuddering in the car. parking is hilarious, and eventually leaves a huge pile of black marks on the driveway! but the car drifts very very nicely!
in a 4wd with teh weight and large tyres you would break something for sure! his whole car lurches and jumps when turning out of the driveway etc. lol.
