my body lift problem
my body lift problem
FYI so you don't make my mistake. I have a body lift kit that I bought off one of the local Suzuki outfits (I can't even remember which). It has solid metal blocks that are tapped. Anyway, as I was cleaning the car the other day, I noticed the left rear-most block was only attached to the body and there was a 1cm of air to the chassis where the rubber spacer used to be. I thought the threaded rod had snapped of but it actually had just rattled and worked its way down. Except the problem was this threaded rod only had about 15mm thread at each end and about 5mm was unthreaded in the middle. Somehow it had worked itself down to the unthreaded bit and gotten stuck in the nut that is welded to the chassis. The lift block probably landed on it and pushed it down. Anyway, I couldn't get the threaded rod out again. Trust me I tried. So in the end, I had to take out the grinder. It shouldn't be a difficult fix but would not have happened if I had used Loc-Tite on it in the first place. Laziness does not pay. Also, recheck your body lift blocks for loosening frequently.
Lift block material
Just out of interest are your blocks steel or alloy?
That is so typical. Normally it only happens when you do a lot of rough dirt driving. It has happened to me a few times now but careful reinstallation has paid off.
