difference between GQ & GU td42 gearboxs
You may have some problems with the gear stick shape
As ive read somewhere that they are different to clear the GU dash.
But I can tell you a GQ td42 box will fitt
and the 2.8 transfer case will bolt up to the 4.2 gear box if you swap the inside gear casing or grind off the oil lip from the 2.8 transfer.
This will allow you to use the smaller tail shafts from the 2.8
And the 2.8 x member will also bolt straight up to the td42 box

Dane, not sure on fitting the GU box into the GQ, i have this feeling that the shifter will be placed about 50-70mm closer to the centre console, and you might have to hack up the floor,
also, to swap the 2.8 transfer case and the 4.,2 transfer case, just swap the 2 front seal housings and they will match up no probs, we have done this on the old mans truck no probs,
