35s on 80series petrol (diff ratios)

have an 80 with 35s and find it a bit sluggish. Have others changed diff ratios for better performance or just put up with it. Brothers 80 with 33s accelerates and drives better but i love the 35s.
any links on price of gears appreciated.

A turbo fixes it real quick.....but a ratio change to 4.56 will fix the spedo and return performance.

would love a turbo but like the dual fuel helps with the running costs.
Any suggestions on where to get gears. Front and rear are air locked, does this make anydifference?

no worries, turbo'd my 3f efi 80 series on gas a while ago, simple set up, CT26 turbo, rising rate fuel reg for the petrol side of things, suck through gas mixer in front of the turbo, good for about 30% more power on 7lb boost, ran 15lb in the sand at stockden beach gas only with a small amount of water injection for cooling. building a much better setup for my 105 series with injected gas (elko gas) finaly be able to run an intercooler and some real boost! with a 3582r garret (xr6) turbo, going for about 450-500 hp, should do that easy, going to fit an aftermarket programable computer for the petrol side of things this time, the gas computer just follows the petrol computer so once youve got the petrol tuned right the gas doesent take long with this system.

as a bonus, with a turbo, you get better fuel economy on both gas and petrol if you tune it right, side note always get your valve clearences right, if your exhaust specs say 8-10 thou go 16! exhaust valves grow more on gas, then they ride, then they burn.

wow you make it sound easy. Prob stupid questions, did the stock computer, injectors and pump handle the 7psi. What brand of convertor were you running.

what about 37s on 80s?? What ratios would help with that. they need to be strong as in comp car

i have 37" xterrain pro comps tyres ,4.88diff ratio (motive brand from states) takes off like standard 80's cruiser can spin wheels on wet black top sits at 2800rpm at 105km in 5th and dont have to change through the gears much as have the power at right foot

When they say reverse cut, does that mean the diff is running backwards when the vehichle is moving forward, like a standard 10" diff?

Your not kidding.
With a 10" diff eg 60. The front diff, is the rear diff in the front, therefore running backwards. The 8" diff eg 80 runs the right direction. That is why they are weak. They mainly break when the car is in revearse because all the weight is transfered onto the front diff when it is going backwards.
So I am clarifying are the 80 centres (FRONT) cut so they run in reverse when the car is going forward.
