DP Chip wiring help for 78/79/100 series

Post by fester2au »

Guys picked up a second hand DP Chip for a 78/79 Series ute but not totally sure on wiring. The ECU wiring is fine but not sure on the engine bay wiring. The engine wiring has 2 wires black and brown. I'm assuming the brown is the earth as the brown in the ECU side is earth as it has an eyelet on it. The engine ones were just cut off so no eyelet but I'm assuming colour combos are the same.

Also my application see the 79 series engine in an 80 series wagon and I'm not sure where the plug is that the trigger wire needs to be spliced into. Obviously it's not in the same spot as the original instructions.

Can anyone give me more info on teh plug in question like size/shape/number of wires/colur of wires etc and which wire I join into. Or maybe some pics.

Or if I take the cover off the fuel pump can I easily trace the wire back from there. I'm assuming 100 series wiring info would help also if someone has that, I just need to identify the plug and wire.

Thanks Dan helps to have the correct instructions for extra reference but I did have access to 100 series instructions.

Main trouble is I cannot identify that plug in the picture to work out which wire I'm supposed to tap into. Given my engine is a conversion into an 80 then the plug I need is not in the same place as the pics so I'm having trouble finding it. Unless it was tucked in behind the pump cover or something. Trouble is I can't tell from that picture exactly waht shape the plug is or the wire colour to tack back.
