i am currently running pro comp all terrain`s there ok just getting on i am driving a 92 mav wagon 5 inch lift 3 inch body 351 cleveland manual with no lockers as of yet....
of course a decent life span but yeah and to be honest im new to 4x4 or more tougher 4x4ing you could say but i dont mind rock and also love the mud haha....
and have done a bit of reading but yeah
i have seen the mickey thompson mtz and was not impressed with them to be honest on the climbing rock... so yeah just wanted peoples opinions and what they have used..
i run maxxis bighorns on my dcab lux, 33s by 12.5 by 15. they seem pretty good for their price. $215 each. i run 32psi in front and 28 in rear on road and they run well had them for over a month now wearing pretty well considering the kilometers on road i do. u can vaigly see the nipples on the tread still. no complaints as of yet. i let them down to 15psi offroad could go lower as they are a pretty hard sidewall. they perform well offroad to and always seemed to free the mud well. they hum at about 80km/h upwards but thats expected from a muddy, they arent unbearable tho you can still talk to ppl in the cab which is hard anyway when the old 2.4 is screaming at 3000 on the highway lol. do your homework and it depends on the budget and the use. if your not always 4wding go for a decent AT otherwise each to their own with tyres i think!!
I JUST BOUGHT A SET OF BIGHORNS 33 X 12.5, AND I AM STOKED WITH THEM.
HAD CLAWS LAST TIME, AND WAS IMPRESSED WITH THEM TO, BUT FOR THE $100 PER TYRE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE, I CANT SEE MUCH DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE IF ANY AT ALL.
HAVE HAD BFG M/T'S, BUT WOULD NOT GET ANOTHER SET, WAS NOT VERY HAPPY WITH THEM FOR THE PRICE.
I had a good run out of Cooper STT 35X12.5 r15 in all but very muddy conditions.
But I absolutly love my simex ET's 35X10.5/15 for everything but the road. Only good as a play tyre and wear quick.
O yeah, this is on a Maverick wagon.
i run 35-12.5-15 simex on my shorty and i think the climb good on rock just let the presures down abit, where my mate has trouble on simex in his gu but i think there a great tyre

i love claws, mainly cos they are alright on the road for an extreme tyre, and i cant be shagged changing tyres right after a trip out anyhow get the 36" simex if you can fit it, i love these tyres and would definatly look at getting a set

I have 33x12.5x15 Maxxis Buckshots on my LWB GQ. Absolutely stoked with them. Reasonably quiet and handle quite well. Offroad I have had no trouble with rock, no tread ripping, chunking or sidewall damage (yet). I run 15psi in em, and have had great success in the sand too.

X2 I love my Swampers (33x12.5x15), dont have Q78 (35 x 10.5ish) but next lot of tyres I want is the TSL 36x12.5x15. Swampers are an oversized tyre that's why i love em,ya get ya moneys worth IMO.

No there not. Have alook at there sizeing chart there all over the place. The numbers on side are just a ball park figure.

Have a look at the 36's - there's a heap of different sizing across the SX, TSL & IROK.
At one stage the 37 boggers measured 35.3" tall mounted, but I think this has been rectified.

I had 35inch BFG muddies. they seemed to go ok.
then 35inch bias claws. the sidewall was abit stiff and they measure small so i was abit unhappy but they dig nicely.
now i have 42TSLs and they are great. but for on road use not too good.
If you go alot of rock, id be saying go MTRs. but they arent too good in the mud from what i have seen wheeling with people who have them. but on road and rock they were tops.

My mistake my Swampers are over sized . not all others are. I haven't found another 33 as tall as mine though. Claws are badly under sized as is Maxxis and MTR's compared to my Swampers. Pretty sure the Simex "pedes" are a taller tyre though. M2c

My claws are slightly smaller than the bighorns, but not greatly. bighorns ar 32.9, or 34.6
They are pretty close for the 33, but 1/2 an inch off for the 35.
Really when it comes down to it, 1/2 an inch between tyres isn't a great deal. stay away from Nankangs though, their 33 is 31.3 that's a big difference.

Yes and No, when i can climb the sandstone ledge at Cityview with near new Swampers and my mate could'nt with new Maxxis. every bit helps. same as my step father getting high centred on a muddy run going through the same rutts as me and i got through he had to get snatched (running Claws) Just what ever suits ya
