vitara rear diff question

Post by atari4x4 »

Can I bolt a complete 5.12 rear out of a 1.6 carby vitara into the rear of my j20a 2.0 vitara or will I need to change r&p over?

I already have a complete 5.12 front to go in & I'm wanting to correct the gearing due to larger tyres.

you'll have to hot-rod the front axles a little for the front to fit.

The only issue is making sure that the front has 26 spline sidegears fitted. The manuals have 4.625's like the H20A I thought, the 4.875's were in the auto 2.0's.

I've got 4.6's in the vitara now. I've still got the 26 spline 5.12 front I got from you, that should bolt straight in & I've come across a 5.12 rear from a carby vitara so I should be back to almost stock gearing.

I'll try my best, but I'm a bit of a throttle jockey + I'm thinking of stepping up from 30x9.5 MT/R to 31x10.5 MT/R's around the same time....
