whitfield...............i suggest you contact these guys http://www.supertrux.com/Index.htm

they are in england, but they should be able to answer all of your q's easily as they specialise in big carpark cruising luxes that are useless in a real offroad situation :D

He`s pulling your leg but hes got some tyres for sale you should think about!

Remember if you get bigger tyres you`ve got to be able to drive them

Rockhoppers or duallies are the go.

Do what NICK said in his last reply and have you decided what hilux year model you want.

If he has to ask about the 10 inch lift block then I don`t think he`d be able to do what nick has said to do.

He needs a off the shelf suspension kit.

Well, dumb questions (seemingly to us, but not to him) they may seem, but if he has little knowledge on the subject, perhaps we could all help educate him with good tech and common sense.

Nissan section? Hmmm, we havent got to page 9 yet...

For all who are interested in the idenity of mwhitfield im going to reveal it.

M whitfield is actually matt whitfield the man who is respsonsible for destroying his hilux, his mq on many occasions and now his dads big gq has taken a big beating from a truck that was in perfect condition 6 months ago before matt got his hands on it.

Eddie is his little brother and has been typing this stuff under his name. Eddie is getting his lux at the end of the year and is just going to build a big rig that is useless offroad is going to be more for onraod looks. Was taliking to him yesterday in the river at cabbage tree about it and he has seen how much matty has destroyed trucks and doesnt want to repairing one all the time. I know all of eddies mates from youth group and they are just as crazy they come wheeling with us heaps and they all want fj40s and fj45s running big tyres and are talking about who is going to roll first out of them.

Now you know eddies identlty keep an eye out for any stupid behavious around the hills area because its bound to matty

Keep it low cut the guards for bigger tyres.

I took a ruff measurment from my bonnet height today and with 38/12.5/15TSLs@5psi i am only running a total of approx 4" of lift from standard and this includes the tyres and 60mm body lift. So if i fit stock wheels i should actually be lower than stock. I have a stock 86model deisel 4wd with 205/75/15s and split rims that im comparing this too.

I also did lower it some more today to get it to this height. The 38s still dont scrub on the firewall.

I will tonight. I also farked up on my measurements which are not totaly acurate anyway but im 8" higher than stock including tyres and body lift. So on stock tyres that should make it around 1 inch lift in the springs.

Took some propper measurments today on both vehicles.

I only took one measurement and it will only realy suit a gen 2 hilux. I measured from the ground up to the drip rail/gutter above the drivers door and it measures exactly 1700mm that is with 28" tyres and stock springs that look ok not too sagged.

Mine in the same place measures 1890 which is aprox 7.5" above stock. Im on 38TSLs with a 60mm body lift so im only really running 1/2" of lift in the springs. and in the front this comes from 2"dropped hangers. My springs are nearly flat with stock length shackles.

Obviously the 38's are not 38" in height because this should give you around 9" of lift over standard.

5" for the tyres
2.4" in BL
1/2" in springs
1" in dropped hanger

Anyway I thought stock hiluxes run 30" tyres with optional 31" ???

BTW mine runs at 1875mm with 37" mtr's, 2" BL, 1" extended shackle and spring lift. I am trying to work out how to lower it to around 1810mm. Not sure if it is possible, but will be coming from the springs and extended shackle. I want to run flat springs. Can't lower the BL any more because of the motor hitting the firewall.

ruff off subject...but why did you opt for the 2inch dropped front hangers with stock length shackles...wouldnt you get better departure clearance with stock front hangers & 2 inches in the shackles?? :?

38" - 28" = 10" difference therfore 5" gained in height. In tyres alone.
Assumtions:
The 38's are 38" tall
The 28's are 28" tall
The weight of the vehicle does not effect the tyre size
