TIming Chain Interval? - 2000 2L 4Cyl Grand Vitara

Post by ashhash »

Hey all

Does anyone know how often the chain/tensioners in these need to be done?

I know 100,000K is the standard interval for belt systems but not sure about these chain type ones.

Anyone had theirs done?
How much did it cost?

Cheers
Ash

A chain should last the life of the motor, it may become streched and rattle later on in its life but that would be many hundred thousand k's.

Just keep up with the regular oil/filter changes with good quality oil (10w30 or better).

That would be the major determining factor with the life of the timing chain/tensioner for the GVs.
