hey guys i got a 98 coily sierra, went to landcruiser park on the weekend with a few mates,
got through everything i wanted with my new tyres and locker. Got Stuck on one of the extreme tracks and BROKE the back right control arm/radial drop arm, not sure on the name but its snapped clean in 2. had to leave the car their, till i get replacement part. Does anyone have a spare? how much do they normally cost?
i will be contacting wreckers on monday when they are open. when i get the part i will be fitting it on the car where it is on the side of the hill. was thinking of tying the car to trees and digging a level platform to place the jack to lift it by the rear diff then sit it on car stands while i fit the part. At the moment the car is unable to be moved without ripping my diff out.
or another option would be to rent a generator jack the car up and weld the arm back together with some bar, at least to get it off the hill
i know this sounds pretty dodge but i cant think of anything else, any other suggestions?

if its just to get the car off the hill, id just put some bits of steel either side n bind it up like a splint then use a rachet strap around the diff back to the chassis to locate the diff.
dont try n drive it out yourself, get someone to tow you out n onlt drive if necessary.
which track btw?
we had to do this with a gq that snapped a lower control arm on hilux hill. we then welded a starpicket to it to get the car home, i wouldnt do this with your car tho as the arms are cast and being 3 link take alot more load

You've officially been inducted into the Coily Owners Guild.
I've busted arms on mine in similar situations. Get some big ratchet straps and run them around the axle back to the chassis both forward and backwards. Do them tight and it should stop the axle moving back and forth and allow you to get it onto a more level surface to repair it.
I have driven mine home about 5km using the above method with the arm completely missing, not recommended and i could have walked home faster. I also carry a spare front and rear arm now because of it

If God did not intend for us to eat animals, then why did he make them out of meat?
i got lucky and have picked up an arm for $95
went to the office, nothing they could do, no one there at the time could weld, and i would not trust mine for something like this. Also seeing that it is cast steel it would have to be heated up tp weld it, or it would be difficult.ofr57

if you took it out and took the arm to the office they would of been able to weld it up

what is the deal with castor correction ? i have about 4" of lift at the moment, so the 100mm castor corection would be suitable? i do plan on getting some 1" coil spacers soon.Mudbits
