Talking about Rims...

Post by Grantw »

What rims are you guys using? I used to run 285/75/16's with 16x8 alloys for road and 16x8 steelys offroad.. Now going to 35's I have realised that their is not much around for pajeros in 15", that doesnt involve mods, to accommodate that size tyre. I dont want the white rims and am now left with three options..

White steelies.....NO WAY
2 types of ugly alloys....NO WAY

Interested to see what you guys use.. There has to be more options....

My other alternative was to go back to 16" rims and get 315/75/16 BFGs but they are really only 34"s...

I WANT 35's!!!!

The roh steelies dont make a correct offset appareantly. Speedy make some rims that suit but they are white only. So I guess they could be painted black.

Frank, How do your JT2's handle on the road?

Jeeps run em on 6.5" rims without any dramas so I am willing to give em a shot on my factory alloys i think..

Tonight is the night the new girl goes under the knife. First up, remove those silver bloody side steps!!! (gives extra 3inches of clearance under the sill) Then body lift. and more stuff maybe...

Grant, I was just checking some stats.
You maybe stuck with 16" rims because the front rotors went from 276mm to 315mm diameter for the NL. The rear discs on all Paj's are 314mm diameter but run a much smaller single pot caliper than the fronts thicker/larger twin pot assembly.
I'd check with a mate who has some say 15x8" rims to see if they will fit but I seriously doubt it. I'd say thats why they went up to the 16" rim.
The JT2's are average on road and you really know they are there, definitely not a tyre for a daily driver. They also develop flat spots after sitting for a couple of hours but round out after a km or so. A BFG mud is MUCH better on road. But they are a dedicated offroad tyre and thats what you get.
I got 15x8" ROH rims that were powder coated black and have had a valve protector welded in. They also did them in 16x8" and he could do the Speedy brand as well. From memory they also did a silver powder coat as opposed to the black. ProComp down here in Melbourne sell them.
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"

Hi Grant

I remember seeing your NH on Sandgate road a couple years back - it was distinctive!

I'm interested in putting 285/75-16s on mine after I do a body lift - do you still have wheels and/or tyres for sale?

Cheers,

Scott

My old one is nothing compared to the new one.... Will post the pics when its finished.

To answer your question, I currently dont have any to sell but I am very close to selling my offroad set... They are:

4x 285/75/16 Silverstone Sport MT117 (Quieter than BFG mud)
1x 305/75/16 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw

Spare has never been used and the silverstones have done about 3000kms... Still have the fury bits on em..

Silverstones are mounted on ROH 16x8 white steelies... (to suit the paj)

Mickey has no rim..

I am currently having issues with tyres for my new toy so when I sort out what I am going to do there I will let you know.
