Hilux V6 conversion

Post by GQboy »

Does anyone know how well a Hilux goes with a dunnydoor V6 and how hard are they to put in?

Is it an expensive exercise?

Yeah the V6 and auto combo goes really well.
They tend to be a bit thirsty though.

in the process of putting one in, if you dont have much experience with mechanicals and wiring, it might be better to try and get someone to do the conversion. as for how they go, VKYOOT off this forum had the conversion i bought setup in his hilux, and it did him well.

Yeah good conversion put the th700 behind it as well, i had one for 7 years and loved it....

Cost to do one.... about 10 k

Use all Marks stuff and you will not have any probs with the conversion and engineers

cost using brand new parts and labours would be $10k

i came out at about $1500

$800 for engine, tranny and adaptor

made mounts and stuff myself, used a commo v6 radiator

paid a mate $200 to wire it for me, and it was the neatest most easy 2 udnerstand wiring ive ever seen, havent seen a pro do better and ive had a few cars wired by pro's at $500+ a hit.

$250 odd for exhaust

had a B&M quicksilver shifter, worked a treat

went like buggery, ripped mean skids

the v6 motors cannot be killed, ive tried evryway possible

the motor i bought, the bores were full of water, just forced it out of the motor, cranked it and it started, altho it idled like a dog and never sounded right, (supplied Action with a spare motor).

All in all with a healthy motor and auto its a great conversion, only trouble i had was on 1 very steep area the auto decided not to work and i had 2 be towed out, other than that, all good
