is it the starter motor???????
is it the starter motor???????
gday fellas
started the car with the KEY this morning and headed out to glasshouse, car slowly got harder and harder to start til nothing and ended up jumpin it home.
checked the battery and is fine and dont think its the starter solenoid as it was tryin to start but just dyin more and more in the arse every time.
now from the day i bought it til now have had no dramas at all with it starting, then yesterday i sprayed a bit of belt grip onto the belts as a quick fix for today as they were slippn a bit, reckon this has put the extra pressure onto the starter motor and f@#!# it, or could it be something else, as temperature gauge was also all over the place today and have been losing a bit of cooolant recently.
cheers for the help guys as im no mechanic

yer tried that and nothing, dont think its the solenoid (correct me if im wrong) but thought if it was the solenoid when you turn the key it would click and keep doin this till eventually it would try and start, whereas today it would try and start everytime but took longer and longer everytime and made some different noises until eventually not a thing no click nothing yet still plenty of power to the cardansedgli wrote:try tapping the solenoid on top of the starter motor with a jack handle or similar while turning the key. If it starts better then its likely on its way out.

Does it sound like the battery is going flat when you are trying to start it?
also feel the negative terminal after its tried cranking for a bit see if its hot
My TD42 has a problem where it was hard starting, sounded like a flat battery, would take 2 batteries to make it start. Turns out the inside of the starter was rusted to buggery and needed a new one as it was beyond a rebuild at that stage.
