The 3rd lay out is long by narrow around 80mm X 200mm this can feed either right to left or visa versa or right to bottom.

What about something like this? Same width but a bit less in height.
I'll probably be interested in an end plate as well as the parts I messaged you about. I'm just waiting on my manifold to arrive so I can take some measurements.

The first one the air flows left to right with 80mm hight

Yours flowing left to right would be 84mm in hight to allow enough air through it may look thinner but when you have finished leaving space for air flow it actually becomes a little bigger.

If you need a custom end plates to fit a space just let me know it's not a problem.

Drift cars I guess are more limited space wise.

MM, I don't see anything mentioned here, but have you done any experiments with these cores at higher intake temps to see how effective they are at the higher temps. They should be effective, but it's always reassuring to have a few real world figures... Keep up the good work..

I just ordered a set of cores and otrher bits from Matt (thanks Matt!!!). I may do something slightly different wrt tubes... but won't know till I have the cores in my hand.

Anyways - I am hoping to get the system fitted before doing a Perth-Tassie-Perth trip. So should be able to log heaps of data on "real world" performance.

(edit: will be running 15-20 psi)

The TD 42 we are currently fabbing will be at 15PSI so more of a test but I only expect the cores to become more efficent, we have hardly put a strain on them at 9PSI.

Great Work Guys - i'm still super keen to get one of these on a GU 4.2  PLEASE let me know when you've built/tested this intake manifold and i'm hapy to be 1st cab off the rank...
GU 4.2 TD Garrett BB Hi-flow, M8274 + Bells & Whistles with plenty of fruit still on the list!

Pretty sure the GU will be the next Cab off the Rank Bogged has offered his as a local test subject, but be patient.

A little advice though I bought my core at $50 for 4 many moons ago when nobody new what to do with them. They're now $250 a set and I think prices will only increase as demand pushes the price up. A smart man would pick 4 cores up now or when next available on Ebay as new they are over $800 a set and sit on them.

If you stop blabbin about em all over the internets the price might stay low

this has been a very interesting thread.

Have you looked at fabricating one peice end caps to retain the four cores, with it incorperating a coolant manifold or end tank with a single 32 or 38mm hose connection to supply/collect coolant to the four cores, rather than splitting into four smaller hoses? does this make sense??

might make for a neater more compact install.

One piece end caps maybe available as time goes on to suit our end plates once we have costed them and this is dependent on the interest in the intercoolers, but for those wishing to fabricate their own, single end caps are the most cost effective solution I believe in conjunction with the machined tubes. This was the main aim of the generic single end cap, to allow people to buy the more complicated parts cheaply and build their own.

I never really envisaged the intercooler taking off quite so much, I know it works exceptionally well, but only really expected a few to follow in my foot steps. Happy to be proved wrong for a change :D

Time will tell where this leads but for now on with the TD42

Now shhhhhh or the cores will go up another $50

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Laminova ... enameZWDVW

If you look at his history he is accepting $200 ;)

The advantage of using individual end caps is they are generic to different housing designs. If a single piece end cap was built, you would have to design the housing to suit it.
Look up ESS tuning, they make performance kits for BMW's, their supercharger kits come with a new cast inlet manifold designed to house laminova cores. They use 1 piece end caps.

Well the end plates came in cheaper than expected.

So a complete kit now ready to weld is:

End plates $200 (this includes the fabrication of the tubes and end cap depending on which design).
End Caps $30 Qty 8
Tubes $50 Qty 4
Support Rings and O Rings $2.50 Qty 8 of each.
Post and packaging $20

So all up $700

Ok back on topic at least for a little while.

Called in to see Awill4x4 and things are coming along nicely the TD42 is looking very smick.

A little more work and then time to drill and tap the holes and assemble the cores and end caps.. Then in the tank for pressure testing. After that final integration into the manifold.

Mean while on the side a custom monster 8 core duel pass is off the drawing board

PS Ab'z :finger:

Me and Andrew decided yesterday that we are going to put it on EBay and let you bid for it, unless you agree to return it if you sell the TD42 Mav, it's worth more :D

Yes Marin is test case No1, not the world most powerful TD42 Mav but one I can lay my hands on any time while he's away in Perth so called working.

:finger: This car is a long term car, so no hope of me selling it for QUITE a while. Hence not wheeling it till I get barwork, unlike it's unfortunate predecessor

But you're right, it wouldn't be worth selling the car with the intercooler on it, these laminovas work WAY to well to just give them away like that!
