Hi Guys
Can anyone give me guidelines about bringing my shorty GQ into Australia from NZ.
We are due to come end of Oct and I was wondering what compliance requirements there is and what costs
Also what demand is there for a truck like mine, V8 injected chevy 5.7 litre LT1, ARB fr & Rr lockers, PTO in ARB bar, endless air, beadlocked 35" tyres, 45% reduction gears in low range box, many other bits and pieces
Any help please

Firstly, the different states have varying laws for modified vehicles, so before anyone can answer just about any of those questions, you are going to have tell us where you intend moving to...

This is legal advice.

You're probably going to need to speak to an engineer in QLD, as the NCOP for modifications is being rolled out (apparently) so things are in a state of flux.
Based on the NCOP though, your 35" tyres aren't going to be legal, and the LT-1 is going to be a problem as LT-1's weren't ever sold in australia in anything so trying to prove its emissions meet ADR's for the year of your car could be expensive.
The other stuff should be fine.
Definitely speak to an engineer in QLD though- QLD is currently very restrictive and the QLD police are very vigilant with modified 4WD's.
Steve.

Nah just kidding .... you will fit in well around here ... half the population is from NZ

Gwagensteve is right though, your modified truck will need to be suitable "blue plated" and if it stands out like dog's b@#*s then expect to be on first name terms with the local constabulary.
Did you mean LS-1? Never heard of LT-1?
TD 80 Series, F&R Lockers, Winch etc
LT-1 was the vette/camaro motor between the L98 (TPI) and the LS1Simo63 wrote: Did you mean LS-1? Never heard of LT-1?
It's good for about 330HP but (from memory) runs unique heads, reverse coolant flow funny/dizzy/ crank angle sensing and stuff. A good motor but a bit of a red-headed stepchild - never really saw the aftermarket development of the L98 or the LS series
legsx1 - the v8 in isn't in itself a problem, it's which v8 that can cause emissions problems etc. QLD used to be more relaxed about motor conversions than down south from what I have seen, but much tighter on lift/tyres and other offroad stuff, however, the NCOP will be messing with that a bit.
Also, what you see at OBC isn't what I'd call a good guide of what's legal.
