EDIT - GU air Box Into GQ

Post by CWBYUP »

Original Post Edited.

What GU Airbox do you need to fit into a GQ TD4.2L Turbo ?

Want to get a quote off nissan for a new one but want to make sure I'm getting the right one.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Nick
Need to change the air box I have on my patrol.
Trying to work out where I can get one like this in the photo.
Its a GQ td4.2 with after market turbo. Looking at putting it on the guard.
Also can anyone confirm what GU ones fit ?
I have seen it before in a search but cant seem to find it again.
Any help would be appreciated.

top pic is an old AIT turbo kit air cleaner, they use a commodore type panel filter.

Bottom pic is a modified GQ pre cleaner.

GU aircleaners do fit into GQ with little modification.

The square one looks alot like a falcon / comodore style. A trip to the wreackers would give you a better idea of which one would suit and you could take some measurements while your there.

Just remembered that BIG GQ fixed up my profile on Patrol4x4 so I jumped on there and had a search.

The one you need is a GU ZD30 3L air box.

Thanks for the info.

I dont know what turbo glide do to modify the GQ pre cleaner, just read it on their website.

The top pic is a cast aluminium airbox made by AIT it does take a panel filter, I think its a commodore V6 filter. I have 2 of these filters here.

GU 4.2l and 3l are both the same, aside from the MAF braket on the output side of the ZD30 cleaner but this can be cut off to be the same as the TD42 cleaner.

I used a Gu 4.2 TDi airbox.
Fitted easily enough.
Used 3mm foad to take up the difference between the OD of the flange comming off the guard and the ID of the airbox.

2 of the airbox bolts lined up perfectly and is enough to hold it in place.
