hi guys, just got a 93 4x4 rodeo, what should i do to make it abit better for offroading? i dont want to go extreme or spend a heap on it though.

Body lift, I'm not sure - probably best to ask in the GM section. If you're handy with tools (and can weld ) you could possibly DIY it for under $200 - a Gen 2 Paj can be done for that money.TH850 wrote:what kind of $$$ am i looking at for the body lift and front diff lock?
Front diff lock (if it fits) would be close to $2k drive in / drive out.
Breaking it down:
- Locker itself - approx. $1200, if you shop around or get lucky you might be able to find one substantially cheaper.
You'll need an air compressor. Currently, I reckon the ARB compressor kit with tank etc. is as good as anything else you'll find, for around $400 (and you'll be able to inflate tyres, too.) If you're on a tight budget, you could probably cobble something together for well under $200.
Install (for IFS) is typically $400 - 500. I pulled my diff myself, somebody else fitted the centre for $120, I re-installed and did wiring/plumbing. Add some oil to refill the diff, and it's done for less than $200 - plus a lot of your time.

had a 90 model rodeo 4x4, to make it go a lil better just wound up the front torsion bar and chucked some 31s on it, if this isnt gonna do what you want it to do then your better of upgrading. unfortunately i learnt this the long, hard and expensive way, now have a patrol ute and never looked back, can still get the moto on the back and all me work shit.

I had a 97 Rodeo dual cab ute. The rear LSD was great so never touched it.
Fitted Jackaroo rear leaves which reduced load capacity but improved the ride for what I used it for plus lifted the rear a bit. Wound the front torsion bars up to match.
Fitted a body lift. Cost about $50 for all the alloy blocks and another $50 for the bolts. Fitted it myself over one weekend.
Got 31in MTRs for it. This all made a big difference to it offroad but I then sold it and bought a 94 Land Rover Discovery. The Disco will go a LOT further than the Rodeo ever did but the Disco can't carry nearly as much gear.
Have a look in the Isuzu section. Not much activity in there but plenty to search through.
Mine was a bloody good ute and never gave me an ounce of trouble for the 6 years I had it. I bought it to do beach and bush camping. So when I started to get into 4wd park stuff it was time to get something more capable.

i own a MU so lots of simularities.... i would go the body lift then 32's and front mechanical lokker... that would be about it cost under 2000 including tyres if you lookin the right place and are handy with some tools

There won't be a lot of anything second hand for your Rodeo. That's what I found at least.
ARB sells a winch bar which is what I had. Cost about $850 new back in 2001.
You won't have airbags so you could always make one.
