Mudguards

My Paj doesn't have the plastic side flares. The plus side is that there is nothing to get broken. On the downside the mudguards are too small and the truck is instantly covered in mud the moment it goes through even a small puddle.

Anyone got any ideas for where I can get a decent set of mudguards? The black rubber flares are Bushranger units which are ok but you can see where a lot of tyre is exposed, hence the mud flying everywhere.

Yeah I pulled mine off as the front ones got destroyed on Dingo Hill.
I spose you could buy a piece of reasonably stiff rubber from Clarke Rubber and cut the size/shape to suit. I doubt the Bushranger ones will cover your offset rims but I maybe wrong.

Hayden at Alpine-Offroad gets sheets of 2 or 3 mm thick plastic which cut to size makes excellent flares and easy to attch to your existing guards.

I gotta get some for the Ferozius as my offset rims stick out 'bout an inch from the widetrack flares.

I tried the Clark Rubber approach, won't work as the rubber is not stiff enough and also it needs to be bent at an angle. Hard to explain. Some plastic would work well, provided it could be formed in the correct way, which I don't have the facilities to do. I made a mount for my PocketPC by heating a plastic box over a pan then bending it, but that wouldn't work for something the size of a mudguard.

Rob, I'll check what we have at work we have various rolls of rubber.
I'll let you know what I find.
Also the Bushranger flares you have are 35mm width (looking at the pic) there are also 65mm width available.
Baz just put the 35mm ones on his Lux and I think they were about $200 from memory.

Correct, they are the 35mm version. I think 65mm would make a difference, but the mudguard itself still wouldn't reach far enough so it would need to be replaced anyway.

Well i got all the answers for you. I had the 65mm Bushranger flares and they worked good over my 285/75/r16 but being a picky fella i upgraded to the fibreglass flares from TJM. I still have the old bushranger flares sitting here if you want them. You can have them for free if you work out how to get them to you. They are already cut to the right length and drilled and curved to suit(cause they were on the car for a year). Let me know.
