g16A and auto.. fit jimny????
g16A and auto.. fit jimny????
i bought a g16A engine and it come with an auto now im thinking of puting the auto in to. does it go anywhere near fitting? and what are the actual boxes like?
the vitara auto is much bigger than the jimny gearbox (auto or manual)... i expect you will be up against all the name issues that you would have if you were trying to put the auto into a sierra...
i.e.
tunnel
gearbox mounts
jackshaft
sorting out the back of the gearbox (bearing support plate)
etc...

I assume when you say G16A you mean the Trimatic 3 speed auto?
You'll suffer with gearing but it won't be too hard to fit - should clear the tunnel.
If you mean the AW-4 these are quite bulky and you'll also need to patch in the TCC and shorten the jackshaft quite a lot.
either way you'll need a closeout plate and support bearing to seal up the back of the auto.
Steve.

Because our information is that the G13BB 4Speed is at the limit of its torque handling capability behind a G13BB, because there are no upgrade parts for the auto, all parts have to be ordered from suzuki and a replacement box (from suzuki) is $8500oozuk wrote:why don't you just fit the G16 with an adapter plate for a sierra so a std jimni auto will bolt up to the G16
IT might work if kept cool, but if it doesn't work there's no easy solution - you're back to a trimatic/AW-4 or a manual.

Do you know how the install went and if the Jimny auto has lasted?oozuk wrote:grahame @ suzisport springwood has already fitted an efi G16B to a jimni auto, using an adapter plate like i said, call him and has how it went
Also, what type of driving does he use it for, road, desert, mud or something else?
I am looking at doing the same but don't want to destroy a (sellable) Jimny auto when giving it a pounding in Kiwi mud holes.
Cheers.
