maxxis tyres how do they drive

i was just wonderin if any bodys got any feed back about 37 or 35 creepys on the road what do they drive and where like

is it just me or does the search function not work very well at all anymore???

seems to be like that for a while now, it always comes up with nothing found when i search really simple things...

You can search for the same thing twice and get two differant groups of info.

the 37 creepies handle resonably well, although i wouldnt be going very fast on them

they shAke very bad at low speeds

but after about 60kms they are fine

i rate them highly, but if its more of a tyer your going to leave on i would choose the 35 for handleing and not a bias tyer

and what they wear like, i honestly cannot tell you!!!

No, I agree with the other two, my search results work intermittently. Applying more filters in the dropboxes you can the better. Just typing "maxxis" is going to give results of topics that the closest thing to what you want is the word maxxis in their sig...

i have 37 comp spec treps and drive with them on road, shake like a bastard when cold but good after a few k's. seem fine at highway speeds + around town

I'm shocked to hear they shake badly, I would have thought the treps would handle well on the road compared to a simex etc. My pedes drive fine on road, there is a fair bit of wait on them for balancing but had them up to 120km/hr and they are fine.

treps suck badly in wet bitchy

i ran my 37 inch bias treps around for a while and they were fine once they warmed up never had probs on the road and i drive like a nut
they have a lot of siping compared to other bias ply tyres so they
will be better on wet roads etc and they dont crown like creepy
cralwers do so they wear more evenly and have a flatter foot print . also found they were reasonably quiet for such an aggressive tyres , i used magnum balancing compound to balance them and never had any vibration problems . except for the 1st k of driving after the car was parked over night . have since sold them and gone back to 35 inch radial treps .

bear in mind tyres like maxxis creepys/treps/mudzillas , simex et/et2/jt , super swamper are designed to perform well offroad and are not designed for on road performance and are better suited as play tyres .

I dont know where tna gets his tyres fitted and balanced but his response is much worse then my experience with the creepys.

I loved my 37" creepys (37x12.5 16s), one wheel/tyre combo did require 450grams of weight and the others all had about 200grams but I NEVER got ANY wobbles once balanced up (even though some were out by 50grams, and I had lost a weight or two over the first 6 months).

I drove on them daily and they never gave me any problems, they were fine at low speed, they felt just as good at 100ks, and I got them upto 130 many times and they felt safe as houses.

I did run them at 35psi originaly onroad but quickly learnt that lower pressure was much better. I ended up running them at 26psi onroad, and 8-12psi offroad.
Offroad at anything above 18psi I would call them almost useless.

As for wear they got a lot of roundin on the lugs from offroad work but they worked best that way. Onroad they seemed to wear very well (for a offroad oriented bias ply tyre) I miss my first set, and can't wait to fit my next set.

I just bought a 2nd hand set of 35" creepy's and rims with external beadlocks off here, took em for there's first run on the road today, and wasn't game to get over 50-60 was hanging on to tight to even look at the speedo!!! scared the crap outta me.... back to the tyre joint I go!

thats cause you drive a rover grimace

but yes 35' creepys drive wellish for a bias ply, no wobbles (otherwise i presume you haven't had a good balance) but they do crown big time, till they are a bit older, so you have to run them at lower pressures on road (25psi compared to my 35 x 10.5 centipedes at 40psi) but no death wobbles just a bit of tram linning - probably cause of the width and stiff side walls?

I have 35x12.5x15 creepys on 8" rims and they are good on the road and off.

I have run them on my troopy and on my rangie, they are just the same.

I run them at 25psi on the road and 15 off road.

I have had them up to 120 and no different to the bfg at tyres I have.

They do tram line, but all the 12.5" tyres I have had do that.

Comp ones only come in 37"s and up

Harleys seem to drive very well in all terrain. ( road and off road)

Hey guys
i run 35x12.5x15 maxxis creepy crawlers on 15x10 on a steel rims on a GQ UTE and they do not shake one bit and iv had them to about 140kmh they have about 75% tread.

my mate had a set on a 79 series ute and he had no troubles untill they were nearly bald then they just couldnt be balanced properly.

Yeah i realise this Nottie just makes it a pain in the arse, doesn't matter where i go i gotta carry the tyres and change em there because the're unbarable on the road, am taking em to beaurepairs tomorrow, to see if they can balance them up better..
If not i gotta set of internal's and 10" rims i might get em throw on
