yeah i'll be honest and say that was just where i was thinking of putting mine, just gotta do a bit of plastic fab work hehehe. And i'll be honest and say good luck with that plug, she's probably mighty rusted in place but lotsa WD40 or something like that plus heat so maybe let it soak with the wd for while then heat on the manifold around the plug.

exV8er - that is EXACTLY what i was thinking about on my way to work thismorning!!!! CREEPY.

Although i'll probably make up a mounting block and stick it to that little tray-thingy with some double sided industrial pads.

What can i say - great minds think alike.

Anyone know if these are reading as degrees celcius or degrees yank when shipped, also have found that with the probe most the way in that the reading just keeps climbing gunna back it out so as it is just in see if that helps.

they are degrees farenheit when they are shipped. mine was anyway, but they can be changed to celcius easily.

2ns shipment is in transit at the moment so not far away.

we didnt get the numbers up enough for the second shipment so I have bought the extra ones out of my own cash.

So if anyone else wants one pm me. you can have them for the same money he charges direct but posted in aus.

im off on a trip the next couple of days then im going to fit mine in my ln 106 hilux on monday.

My clock doesnt work so im going to fit it in that spot - the clock also has a headlight dimming wire so it will be a super easy instal in there.

Hi, just curious for what reason would you have a pyrometer gauge?

Yeah but what are the benefits of having a pyrometer when you have a engine oil and water temperature gauges?

A pyrometer shows exhaust gas temperature and will let you know if your running to rich, running to rich puts out more heat and will shorten engine life.
where as the oil gauge shows oil pressure and water gauge shows water temp which can show all is ok even when exhaust temps are way to high.
and can melt pistons and valves ect .

Thanks.

That makes a lot more sense. What would you do when you've got two exhaust, do you just mount the temperature probe on one of them or do you mount two?

Depends on what information you are trying to monitor and why. Some V8 racecars will run 8 of them. One for each cylinder.

Why do you ask about 2. If you have a V8 then 2 would be good to make sure both sides are fueling the same. Otherwise 1 on a 6 or 4 cylinder is sufficient for what we are talking about here. As long as where you mount it gets a fairly consistent reading of all cylinders.
