VS V6 Commodore motor Power/Economy mode

Post by dawg runner »

Gday,

I am putting a VS ecotech v6 in my 4 runner.

I bought the kit from marks adaptors to do so.

There is a pin out for the econ/power switch in the 8/9 pin plug just past the firewall.

How do i initiate power mode do i earth this pin or give it power?

I know it does not do much but i have the wire and the switch so i figure i may as well hook it up.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Are you fitting just the motor, or the motor and auto. The power/economy mode switch only changes the shift pattern of the transmission.

Yeah. With the Auto.

Just need to know whether to power it or what???

Found the wire for light behind the dash and everything and i have some power there ready to go but just dont want to do it and damage the computer.

The pin gets earthed to initiate the power mode (i think). Either way, its earthed to initiate one mode or another.

If you want a wiring diagram, go to www.memcals.com and follow the "info" button then "wiring" button, takes you to a few commodore ecu wiring diagrams, very helpful

Check the stock switch, in a VT onwards the switch is a momentary one. I use mine and have callibrated the shifts to suit high performance and very high performance.
