Shorty40s GQ (now with pics)
Had a look through the inspection hole at the sender and all the wires look OK from that end
As well as the fuel gauge not working, a couple of the dash lights flicker on and off intermittently (handbrake, air filter and engine lights).
I was thinking it might be a couple of loose wires behind the dash. Had a look but it seems all good
The Nissan guy said it is probably something to do with the alternator (brushes worn out and not making contact) and a regulator (or something ). But this alternator fix was about $600 and the regulator thingy about $400, but he said it could be something else
Any thoughts I don't really want to pay a grand for a fuel gauge and a couple of blinking lights

Sounds like a bad connection or something earthing out somewhere along the line... The battery has water in it? Its in good condition, starts ok etc?

Since you drive a petrol, I wouldnt bother with the GQ ALT piss it off and put another high amp one in like a commodore or falcon. As these are worth bugger al at the wreckers (shit went to the autions yesterday and could of picked up a VS wagon with a large dent in the bumper for $1000).
Just need to put a different plug on the end and all will be sweet. An easy job for an auto elec if you mount it yourself.

He didn't check the alternator, he just "thought" that might be the problem
I have had no dramas starting the rig for the last couple of weeks since this light and fuel gauge issue

Power window controls are on the door. It has the power door lock, the power window lock out button, then the four window buttons.
OK - A few weeks of ownership and the problems start
So driving to work this morning and the clutch starts slipping Third gear give it some gas and the revs rise but the car goes no faster back off and its ok again.
Last week or so it has also been dificult to engage 1st from a stand still. Also, 1st to 2nd seems a little difficult at times.
Does this sound like its in the early stages or is it time for a new clutch
Can this be fixed by adjusting the clutch or am I up for big $$$

If you get it done, invest in a heavy duty one as you will need the extra strength for towing duties. My old man just went thru all of this. He tow a caravan a lot and with the turbo he smokes stock clutches.

James, does your old man drive a GQ ? What did it set him back to supply and fit the heavy duty clutch

I don't know about the adjustability. Someone should be able to answer that for you.
Yep, the crudster drives a GQ. I think the standard one is about $500 and a heavy duty is about $800. Pretty sure this is fitted.
