Its legally required because of the rear seats and seatbelts.

Obviously without the rear seats its fitment is questionable but IMO from a legal iewpoint you would need a engineers cert to be legal if you pulled it.

What are you trying to achieve - I like the strength of the Feroza roof and the rear bar, zook owners keep asking me where did I get it... :D
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

i have been wondering the same question as im looking into making rear drawers and the design would be a little easier if the bars were gone :)

I took my bar out when i did the draws also.
Figured it's there to protect rear seat passengers.
No rear seats no bar....

But having said that, when i had to get it re-registered after the chassis replacement,
the guy who did the road worthy made me put the seats, seatbelts and bar back in otherwise he was only gunna let it be regestered as a 2 seater.
All my work is reversable so i can put it back to stock if i need to.

Yes, technically if you remove the seats/ belts it should have a mod plate affixed to state it is now a two seater. Simply removing both doesn't make it legal. ;)
