Longfields- 27 or 30 Spline???????

Post by Red04VXE »

Well I'm getting a Super Set,
Just wondering what the pros and cons are for going to 30Spline?

The only disadvantage I can think of is having to buy from US again if the unthinkable happens and I break one.

I am 1 of very few here in Aus that only have the 27 spliners.
The ONLY reason I bought them was because I had a budget to spend on getting some new parts before a comp.
If I had of had the few extra hundred dollars I would have got the 30 spliners. Or if I hadn`t bought heeps of other stuff at basicly the same time, hence giving me a few more dollars to spend on them.

When I either break 1 or wear them out I`ll get 30`s.
In saying all that on my first weekend with them I busted a short side inner axle, since then nothing. I also only run stock inner axles.
I voted for what I have NOT what is better.

I only bought CV`s, NO axles.
SO the differance was more then that.

AT the time I bought them the 27`s cost me $650 on my door. A 30 spline super set was about $1200. (those figures are only approx) The aus dollar was lower back then

But yes if you buy chromo inner axle with 27`s the differance is very small.

We are the Au dealer for LongField Super Axles. If you brake an axle or cv give us a call, send the broken axle or cv to our shop in Perth and we will send out a new part.
I would say go the 30 spline kit. Its cheap insurance.

I went the 30 spline super set. I figured for $60 more I could get the biggest and the best. In the case that one breaks (extremely unlikely according to those on IH8Mud) you can just replace it with a standard 27 spline axle and CV

If you got the loot go 30's straight up, costs you more in the long run to half ass it. I bought 27's then broke axles and then bought 30's :x
Do it properly do it once :D

Its not really the cv its the axle mostly because its still smaller diameter then the 30 spline axle.
Usually if people buy the 27's they run standard axles wich are a weak point.

I would absolutly not go for anything else but 30 splines. Ring LOCKTUP 4X4 in perth on 0449 256 969 and speak to chris. champion to deal with and great service.
I would highly doubt breaking these things but if they do you can stick in a standard axle and cv for 10 days until the new part arrives under warranty.

GO as many others have Said the 30 spline super set (ive got two sets :D ) just incase I broke my old set in TT08 ..I wanted to be able to replace with the same awesome product ..but I didnt have any axle /CV carnage  which I was :D about )

But I have seen a few go BANG ..........and sometimes hardly under load ...but everytime they have been replaced with no hassles , Terra from Longfield Enterprises is great to deal with , with BETTER service that most Aus suppliers cant give and shorter delivery times ...

But yes the dollar isnt the best at the moment ...glad I got mine when I did
