lock nut removal

Just a question guys and gals, I am about to change
my brake rotors this weekend and know I need a special sized
socket or wrench to remove the hub locking nuts.......anyone know
what size/s I will need?

And any gurus out there have any hints to make the job easier?

Appreciate the reply.

But my bad, I should have specified it is the main axel locking nut. i.e. the one that stops you removing the brake rotor as the hub is still attached that I am referring to.

I too thought about just cold chiseling it off if it was an issue, but then would still need the right sized socket etc to get the new one back on and torqued up.

You will need a very deep socket if your going down that path as the driveshaft sticks out the middle and causes issues.

I decided to make the service tool and its been well worth it.

As the tensioning instructions require a force gauge - one again most people don't have one...

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Again thanks for the advice MM. Strangely enough found that the lock
nuts themselves were easy than I first thought to remove......with the help of a homemade service tool aka a bit of pipe persuaded into shape with a rather large hammer......and luckily the spring gauge was picked up during the week after reading the Roza's manual......
