The gearbox in my 60 started to do some weird stuff today.....
It doesn't make bearing noise and seems like its in good nick.
For some reason (whilst sitting still) I can attempt to put it in 2nd and 4th without the clutch in! But then when changing into either of those gears, it struggles...CRUNCH!
I'm thinkin the syncros have given up on life, what is everyone else's thoughts on what it could be?
What should I do ie rebuild the whole box or just replace the syncros?
Is it hard to rebuild a 60 box?
Thanks Ben.

I had my gearbox and transfer case done up for $3500 just out of warranty had problems again.
The first time a bearing had been put in incorrectly and I then had to cough up another $3200 since everything did not need to be replaced again.
My advice don't do it yourself. The closeest I would go is to buy a second hand box from an out of town wrecker from a vehicle with low K's with some form of warranty eg 3 months.

I would be having a look at the top plate with all the shift rods, as there is no way it should go into gear with out the clutch.
Maybe the plastic bush on the end of the shifter is broken....... Check that first, pretty easy to do, and cheap to fix!!

gearbox
I've just noticed something else...
If I'm parked with the clutch in and in say 1st gear, then let the car roll back or forward a little, it seems to roll a little then stop, like something inside is getting jammed in the teeth or something...
But if its not in gear it won't jam up and stop, it will keep rolling...WOT THE
