Roachie on patrol forum does the opposite without issue.. 5inch rear 4 front since he has mega tons (well did until chassis broke in 1/2 recently) in the rear of his ute for touring.

Do you have that much extra over the front? or the rear is that light?

put the taller springs in the back if you want more weight on the front.
My 80 was handling like a boat till I lifted the rear higher than the front. It has 4" rear springs and 3" front springs.

Handling got even better when I put the castor bushes in.

The rear is very light..only a tyre and fuel..Tray is light too

Right now the coils are stuffed .I have 1 6" coil in the drivers rear that sits a few mm below the 4"coils in the rest of the corners.

That's what I'm looking at doing with my 80. I just put in some Dobbinsons flexis from Suspension Stuff. 3". Lifted the back fine but the front is sitting at least 30mm lower than a couple of other trucks that have used the exact same springs. They've got steel bars (no winch) to my alloy bar. Can't work out why. One is diesel same as mine. we've tried 2 sets of 3" springs and same result. Can't go heavier as truck already rides roughish due to lack of weight so onyl option appears to be 4" for front. I hate the arse up look and want the truck level and the correct height. Have looked at all suspension mounts and can't see any significant damage that would account for the height difference so gonna have to do the split heights to get it level.

Unless Toyota considerably beefed up the 1HD-FTE (fitted to my 80) when they put it in the 78/79/100 series there is nothing to account for the difference.

Steve i dont think you will have any dramas using those springs but depending on brands you might have a little bit of height difference,

i can understand the weight side of things, my GQ ute weights 1200kgs up front and 700kgs in the rear,
