Air box to snorkel??? For a Commodore V6 in a Pathfinder.

Post by Vsicks Pathy »

I want to connect my snorkel in the Pathy. I need an air box that will do the job but I don't have a clue what will fit. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Yeah but they are a bastard to seal...

I have seen (in 4x4 mags) air boxes running a snorkel or two with Commodore V6's but they never say what they are out of.

I guess I will have to keep looking...

Here is a patrol with a VN airbox. I think you should be able to adapt one to fit somehow.

I made an airbox from a Hilux surf fit in my V6 Lux with snork.
Not sure if it would work in your case.

This is the set up I had. Too much dirty water etc gets into it.

I will take a look at the V6 surf box and if that fails I will look at other options.

Thanks for the input guys.

Just seal it up air tight. That'll fix the water and dust problem.

Although Ive never done it myself Ive seen a fer people use large diameter PVC and put a pod filter in there. There east to work with and you cheap. I was considering this for my own snorkle attempt.

Just a quick question. Is it possible to fit the air filter up in the snorkel? May make your problem in the engine bay a bit easier if you can.

A air box from a 3litre diesel hilux might fit?
Nice size air box as well, this is what i was going to use but modified the standard one instead.

G'day mate, this is what I did with mine. Not a pathy but luxs don't come with GM V6's either, hopefully give you some ideas. The plenum is out of an early model 4runner so it sits on the inner guard nicely. Had to rearrange some things to free up the space but once that was sorted it works well. Then I plumbed up the piping to suit, works good with the 3' stainless snorkle I made. Cheers, Chris

I like that.

I will go to a wreckers and size one up. There isn't too much room under the bonnet of a Pathfinder.
