They found me a new replacement for my rocky. Failing that, genuine. When i was looking around it wasn't that much more. Maybe 50-80bucks on top. Go to Toyota in Penrith for that.

I was in the same boat - wanted more cooling capacity, Went to my local radiator place and initially the answer was no only a replacement 2 row core available. Decided that a new 2 row core was better than an old one so said to go ahead.
Next day he rang up and said he'd found a 3 row core that would fit did I want it.... ?
Long and short, I've a 3 row re core in my Feroza, from memory was about $20 dearer than a 2 row.
This was NOT a new radiator - just the core was replaced, but as that's the bit that does the work who cares ?

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Yes I suppose that could be true....... I've not seen it as I keep my vehicles cooling system maitained pretty frequently.
However, unless i've misintrepreted his comments, it doesn't sound like that's what his problem is and so its still the best solution ( especially three row ) IMO.
I had baffles put into my tanks to ensure the water actiually flowed through all the core and it did seem to make a small improvement.
Its now basically divided in quarters. 2 row i'm uncertain if i'd do it, but with a three row....

What originally happened was that the car would overheat constantly. So i minimised drive to while trying to find a radiator joint to repair the rad.
My cuz who at the time had a trusty zook needed a car as he somehow bent a piston or something in his zook. So i lent him the fez until his was fixed.
He took it to work (as a apprentice mechanic) knowing i was having some radiator problems, decided to pressure test the radiator.
All i know now is that water comes out faster then it goes in!
From what i can see the top is ok. about half way down water comes out the front & back of the radiator and poors out the bottom.
i figured its well so id just replace the thing rather then getting the core done or just the tanks or the cost to have it repaired.
