Wonder if any one has done this before ,
Just a np435 ,f100 single speed transfer ,make an adaptor to throw a th400 or somthing in front of np435,
Would be a good range of ratios , 2nd gear on these is about equall to RR ,transfer 3.3-1, 4th 1.1. The np435 is only about 18" in length i think.
so the hole fandangle might be less in length than most double transfer set ups ?
Just a thought , crawl including the tourqe converter @2-1 would run at about 200-1 on 4.8 -1 diffs Larry.
it was designed to be used with a dana spicer model 21 which was a single speed tranny, id assume he would either use this still or you could try and mount a d300 or a dana model 20 or something similar to it so you got a 6.9 reduction box before your tranny
ok bored at work and doing some reading,
so you would try and run a th400 -> np435 -> dana21
That would give a chit load of gearing options, but it would be very long i think,
**section removed cause i was a dumbass and didnt think**
why not just use a NP435 and say a D300 tranny with 4.8 diffs that gives you 84:1 1st gear low, if you put a 4.7 gear set in the d300 you are down to 154:1 or do you want the auto option
Was Just thinking the other day ,a mate was talking about twin transfer
marlin i think, and the cost is aperantly pretty high, I noticed on here the other day ruff mentioned somone breaking the outputs on the hilux unit.
The dana 21 , yes its a single speed transfer - really just a chain drive for the front output , Not a very popular thing as stated its only a single speed, Runs married to the NP435 on f series, The np case is only about
12", extension another 5" ,on to d21 another 6" or so .
You,d need say 5" for the front Housing to create your adaptor for the auto, Could even shorten the back of the auto and respline the output on it ,as you would have a speedo output on the np.
Give you somthing like standard rangie gearing in 2rd on np,
super low in 1st
How long is a dual marlin setup and what would it cost including the cases?
Just for sng.
Larry.

When I had the F100 I looked at doing this with a c6/10, np435 and np205.
What I figured was you get the input gear of the 435 EDM'd with a female spline to accept the output from the auto and have the ouput from the auto supported by the front bearing in the np435. By losing the bellhousing of the np and using the short output of the c6 there would only be about a 3" adapter and the c6/10 is pretty short to begin with. All the rest of the deal would be easy in an F truck (plenty of space etc), c6/10's are reasonably cheap/strong, the rest was already there, and the EDM job was going to run about $300 plus a sacraficial output shaft from an auto. Make your own adaptors, mounts, shafts etc and you could get out of it for less than $1g?
One advantage I saw was you could get super low gearing and still keep 'strong' cw&p's, 3.5:1 or whatever.
Shifting the np would require shifting auto to neutral and stopping vehicle, which could become annoying, picking which stick to play with would take a while, youd have a bbig chart on the dash for all the different gearing options.......
Pick the right 4/5 speed and you could get low gears and a splitter, or overdrive........
