arb air locker leaking air
hey guys,
i bought a hilux and came with airlockers but the rear locker is leaking out the top of the diff housing. so i pulled it out and put some air through it to see where it is leaking and found the spot (in picture below with arrows pointing to where it is leaking). can anyone tell me if this is just a seal i can go and replace with a part for the bearing/seal shop? help would be great!
cheers Tam

Go to your nearest ARB store and ask to watch the video of these lockers in action. Watch as the internal gears snap. ARB lockers are designed to snap axels, those copys which arb has found out about and now proceeded with legal action against, are shit. Internal gears snap, made from inferior quality metal.they must be those new chinese copies

don't stress LOCKEDLUX its an easy fix. when you put the new seals in go by the specs for clearances all around the seal housing and you won't have any dramas, or contact a supplier and see if the new full floating seal housing will fit your model. don't worry about the valuable info that SHADOW and AJSR have given you, they sound like magazine mechanics.

my arb's use a simple viton O-ring, no square section O-ring. Neoprene or nitrile o-rings will not last long so make sure you ask for and get viton.
arb should stock them, you will normally have to go to a seal specialty shop for viton or order them in. I think last viton o-rings to suit an RD09 cost me $6, not sure if it was a pair or each, it was about 5 years ago.
Either way its not a hard job, just a pain.
