No idle on LPG
my hilux runs fine on the hi way but wont idle it dosnt do it all the time maybe 2 weeks ok then no idle it has a landi mixer and im guessing it was fitted in 1993 anyone got any ideas that might help?\

There should be an idle mixture screw on the mixer. it could be either too rich, or too lean. You will have to experiment. My guess would be too lean. Mark the starting point, and then open it up - no more than 1/8 turn, then go back to where you were. It is normally a fine adjustment. It could be a bit of oil from the gas which has blocked the idle jet.
I've got a similar problem with a similar mixer.
I found that richening the idle mixture made it idle (turning the screw out), but I had to richen it way past where it used to be - now you can hear gas hissing with the ignition on (before it cuts out) and it smells really rich at idle.
Its a lot easier to start also like this but I suspect its knocking my fuel economy around..

Before you go too far, make sure that there are no air leaks in the intake system eg the vacuum advance, cruise control, petrol tank vapour system etc. A minor air leak can cause the overall idle mixture to be too lean, which can be cured by opening up the idle screw a bit, but overall, you will probably be running too rich once the engine gets up in revs a bit.
When you are running on gas, there are actually 2 jets operating - the idle and the main jet. Both systems operate in parallel. The mixer is designed this way - idle is operating all the time. If you go too far, you certainly will stuff up economy, that is why I said to take it very carefully, and to mark where you started from so that you can at least come back to it.
You could have a blocked or partially blocked idle screw. The mixer could be half full of oil or a (clean) sludgy mix if you have bought a bad batch of gas lately. It isn't too difficult to take the mixer off (Be sure that the gas is isolated at the tank!), and then to pull it apart. There is nothing complicated inside the mixer - only a diaphragm with a tapered needle in the middle, and the idle screw. As a starter, remove the idle screw, being sure to count the number of turns you make before you start. Ideally, you should then take the Lux to a gas man to retune the mixtures, but I have only done that a few times - you can get it fairly close yourself.
It is a case of start at the front and work your way back, looking at all parts of teh system. Good luck!

Just stripped and cleaned my convertor with carby cleaner. There was a fair bit of crud in behind the diaphragm and presumably in the jets.
Works perfectly now - it will idle at a much leaner setting on the idle mixture screw which should be better for the economy.
It still wont cold start on gas with the idle mixture set at 2.5% CO but its probably a good thing to start on petrol anyway............
