Who has snapped one?? How did it snap?? Is it worth getting H/D ones if I'm not trashed the guts out of it in the scrub??

And it there any way of gettin around a long range fuel tank (right near the right lower control arm)???

have a look at superior engineerings long arms. they're a heavy duty arm but are longer than the standard ones allowing better flex and stopping the diff from twisting under full flex.

yes strengthened ones are worth it as the standard one are made of 1.6mm steel and the rings seem to rip apart in the same spot on most. for $350 bucks you are making sure you dont bust an airlocker or even just a diff from breaking the arm

i haven't broken one but have bent one to 65 degrees on passenger side lower with 35's pulls the diff forward and under you rear door chews the shit out of your tyres ( first trip out with new tyres too) so yea stronger ones way to go and as for long range tank upper arms are aval that have been purposely made with a bent in them to clear top of tank

alterativly u can strenghten them yourself. by welding some re-enforcement on them...

Thanks fellers, yep already have a superior curved upper arm. Just have heard about alot of ppl snapping lower arms and last thing I want is to be stuck in the scrub with a broken one.

I've bent standard ones before.. it doesnt take much either, just get them hung up on a ledge and they bend real quick.. but never heard of one snapping. The superior ones have a reinforcing brace on them too

I have seen a few snap, I have tied and strapped diffs under chassis on a few occasions. I recommend aftermarket lowwers to everyone, at leasr brace your standard ones.

Worste one I saw break took out the pinion, tail shaft and shock. Whats cheaper in the long run.

Imagine one break at speed? It can happen if the trail arm has been bent or kinked.

Here's a spun off tailshaft and bent lower control arm, the otherside was a bit bent aswell, Superior one's now fitted.

I have seen some that are longer than stock. why's this??? is it to cater for larger lifts and if so, what size lift would you have to have before needing longer arms.

I have a 4 inch lift and this is something I have considered (new lower arms) but not really sure if I should buy standard or longer lengths

The longer lowers bring your pinion angles back in line to help with vibrations and also centres your wheel in the wheel arch better.

A mate of mine snapped one lower arm and bent the other (they were laminated!) which rotated his diff and snapped the pinion and a shock. He had 4.6 ring and pinion so it turned out to be a costly breakage. Heavy duty lowers are a necessity.

how much longer are the ones your talking about? the Superior long arms i mentioned before are about 30% longer.. they allow better flex and stop the diff from 'walking' foward and ending up twisting around and snapping you driveshaft. you have to cut the mounts off the chassis and weld new ones on to fit them though

I have only seen the ones on flea bay, they are 10mm onger, bugger all really. I am not sure but suppose that superior or someone like that would make them as well.

at arpund the $200 mark, they seem like cheap insurance for serious off roaders

BBM does a set for $395 and they come with a lifetime replacement warranty. You bend em, we will replace em!

these are the ones i was talking about.. not a bad on price considering they come with bushes and new mounts...
