HJ45

Post by Mad Cruiser »

Looking at buying a HJ45 with a petrol engine in it as a Weekend toy and plan on getting it registered.

Now the question is do they normally come with a SPOA ? As the one i'm looking at has SPOA. Also it has a 100 Litre fuel cell, would that be a problem with RWC in Brisbane ? Any suggestions on what to look out for ?

Thanks everyone

nah they not a factory spoa (spring over axle i guess your talking about?)
dunno about fuel cell legalities in qld though.

rust is generally the biggest thing with them, look around panel joins, bottom of doors, roof, floor.... everywhere really lol
transfer cases give up in them aswell, take it for a drive(rite up to highway speed), if theres a howling noise that is normally whats wrong

what other goodies has it got?

oh yeah if its a petrol motor its a fj45

dont think it'll pass rwc with soa in qld. would be easy enough to go back to sua if no mounts have moved and there was no cut n turn.

if the doors are real bad ive got some for sale.

SOA is illegal in QLD unless it was engineered before the rule changes came in around 10-15yrs ago. Unless it's a trailer queen, walk away IMO.

Checked it out, It wasn't too bad. Minor rust on one of the doors and it still had the mounts under the diff for the leafs but the owner wanted 4 grand for it no RWC or rego  Advertised on ebay for 3 grand with no bids

I turned him down as i thought it was a bit too expensive
