I am sure you used to be able to lift up to 50mm on a bodylift without needing an engineers certificate. Can someone provide some solid info or a link to some on what is allowed to be done. I was looking at using poly blocks to and high tensile bolts to do the lift but am now worried that it won't be roadworthy and will void my insurance.
So what is and isn't allowed in VIC?

Vicroads rules on bodylift?

Suggest you look at the VSI's on the Vicroads site VSI 8 is relevant, - then if your confused contact them. I've done it via the net and it didn't take too long to get an answer.
What I've read in VSI's and other ....
Lift Blocks must be metal - info from a engineer ( plastic is out )
The distance between a suspension component and its bump stop cannot be changed more more than a third of that specified by the manufacturer - info from VSI 8 ( if you've wound up the bars your probably already illegal ).
Tyre diameter +/- 15mm on largest/smallest tire recommended by manufacturer -VSI 8 ( probably already illegal )
Stay within these limits and you don't need an engineers cert.
What I think is correct
Victoria has signed up to the National Code of Practice ( NCOP ) - that limits TOTAL height increase to 50mm. That's wheels/tires, suspension and body lift all added together from whatever the manufacturer specifies.
Apparently thats the maximum possible even with an engineers cert.
So you could well be illegal already - bummer hey ?

Yep I'm probrably already out on the tyres but I haven't moded the suspension.
Just wondering what the rules were? I am sure they were up to a 50mm body lift was allowed. If so what if I did my lift when those rules were in place?
I can't remember if plastic was allowed on body lifts then or not.
So it looks like I'll just lift it anyway. Is there any major problem using poly blocks...are they dangerous in any way?

If you have an engineers cert covering the mods when they were done then your OK... otherwise
Remember its cumulative lift.... tires and suupension and body so its esay to go over.. If you've wound up the bars to get tires on then
Plastic blocks are fine as long as they are appropriate diameter... I'm using 50mm diameter plastic as it suits the existing mounts perfectly.
Been used for a couple of years now and no issues... and whilst your at it I'd use high tensile bolts and some thick plated washers.
IIRC they are a fine thread so watch your bolt supplier, if your not carefull you'll come home and have to go back...
The rear mounts are studs that can be replaced by bolts - everything else are bolts already.
