GU 4.2 turbo diesel consumption
GU 4.2 turbo diesel consumption
Hi guys, how much do your gu 4.2 turbo diesels get fuel consumption wise? How big is the tank in the gu st?
Thanks
Thanks
Haven't been real happy with mine since I bought it. 135k on the clock, 2" lift, 265/75's and its a wagon. Nearly always unladen and my average since purchase is 14.4L/100km but that is mainly urban. Doesn't really get much better on the highway, low 14's usually. Best ever is high 13's and worse is 16.3L/100km. Just had it dyno tuned so will see how the figures pan out as i clock up a few k's.

On a trip to QLD loaded up including roof rack and 4 days on Fraser Island I averaged 14.3/100. Best I got was 12.8 sitting on 105kph on highway and worst I got was 17 while on Fraser Island driving in dry sand. But I have only got half the power Joel has
GU ST 4.2 TURBO. 9000lb Warn, Snorkel, 4" Lift, 33" BFG Muddys, ARB Locker, Outback Drawers, Dual Batteries, ARB Roof Rack, IPF HID's, GME UHF, 60lt Engel, Full 3" Exhaust and fuel pump tweaked
Custom intake manifold, extractor style exhaust manifold, custom roller bearing turbo, custom cam, minor head porting, HPC comp chambers, exhaust ports and pistons, balanced and a big pump. I actually have the aneroid switched so I can drive around mostly on about 150 rwkW and little smoke. Even at that its good to drive.
Cheers

On a trip from sydney to bundy(for the rum) I got 11.5 on the open road sitting on around 105km/h. It has 3inch exhaust, 35's and 4.6 diff gears and 5inch lift. it was around 3 tonne when we drove up. Towed a GU ute with it around 600kms on the weekend and used 120litres sitting around 100km/h

No one has mentioned the speedo accuracy. Mine with 4.6's and 35's (was previously a 2.8) is spot on, but with stock tyre size was nearly 10% down, 100 on my speedo was only 90 so I wasn't travelling as far as the odometer said.

This is a very good point Joel. However, the speedo and odometer don't seem to be correlated in their accuracy on my car, is this normal? I have only done one odo test and from what I can remember it was reading approx 10% less than reality. My speedo on the other hand reads 4% low in that at 100km/h (by gps) it reads 96. So presumably I should account for the odometer inaccuracy which would make my figures in the 13L/100km territory for the most part.

my gu45 with 33's is spot on with the spedo and about 3km out per 100km with the odometre, so every 100km travelled iv done 103, which is close enough for me!
Most cars in stock form will under read by 6-7%,so all the guys and gals out there with there stock size tyres are getting fewer km's out of there tanks then what they think!

I Have a 99 4.2 Non turbo Gu with an after market Hi Flowed Roller bearing turbo With big $$$ Fuel pump running 14pound boost & 33" tyres for day to day & 35" for weekends & still have standard Gearing. Around town with 33's i get about 12ltr per 100 if I drive nicely & 14 if I flog it, With the 35's it jumps to 14 nicely & 16 Floging it.The guy that tuned it has the fuel pouring in over 8 pound boost so driving nicely around town still gets great fuel consumption but put your foot into it & has great power getting around 160 @ rear wheels once i finish it with a intercooler should be arond the 200 @ rears but drive it nice & get the good fuel condsumption best of both worlds speacialy with deisel around the $1.60 mark
