rolled coily

Post by hooki »

hi guys, rolled my coily sierra on the w/e. I wanted to see what you guys would recommend to fix the window frame. The car has very straight panels all around still apart from the window frame and hoop bar. I'v been told that it's a right off due to the fact that the window frame in molded into the body. what do you guys think i should do?

Repair or replace the window frame..

Write off because of that reason is a bunch of BS.. its only metal and no different to replacing a non bolt off panel anywhere else on the vehicle.

If I were you I'd look really hard at fitting a WT fold down screen.

It would be a bit of work grafting the cowl section of WT to Coily but would be replaceable if you ever damaged it again.
Would be VERY cool too. Not many coily's with a fold down screen.

Mine has one, and an SJ410 front end (with Santana badges), always get the question of how the coil conversion was done.

Lancelin?

Bugger on the roll.

as far as writeoff. i have heard that also and may be only a insurance thing. can u get it done on insurance?

another cab will be 500 or so. from suzukishop. think u could use a leafy tub and use all your panels fine on it.

or do as someelse said. try graft a WT one on and if that craps then get a new tub.

Which would also probably write the car off too from an insurance point of view.
It doesn't take much labour and paint to write of a $5K sierra.

I do agree but there was no mention of insurance, The question was asked how to fix it..

there is no way you could put a wt screen in there they are completely different in so many different ways. to the point that a coily soft top is different to a wt soft top by 10mm.

fix it see if it is cheaper to get panels from suzuki or to get a new tub.

how stuffed is it anyway ?

The car below is a custom and has had several pieces of other cars GRAFTED into it.
None of them fitted straight on and all of them needed work.
WT windscreen frame CAN be made to fit a coily. It won't be easy and it won't bolt on but custom work never is easy , however the results are always  if done properly.

Correct Jas, try doing this

It won't be perfect when finish but then again it's a Sierra and will get driven accordingly so no point having it show quality

hey guys, thanks for all the idea's so far. I'm realy not sure what to do about it atm. I would love to put a WT fold down on but i'm not the best fabricator. 'nicbeer' was done at mudaring and was caused by a stupid mis judgment in the terrain while taking a corner. I might give suzistore a ring tomorrow and see what they have. Here's a pic of the damage. I didn't hit the side of the car at all as it bounced from 2 wheels straight onto the roof. Denting to the flares was caused when turning it back upright. I was thinking of maybe buying a WT tub and then bolting the coily front clip on, would this be do-able?

the side window is a little small isnt it??? lol - post up a link to the build of this one - looks like itll be great at the end!

With the grafting of parts - Brian at suzistore has a blended coily/maruti.... theres pics here: http://www.suzistore.com.au/shopcontent ... customwork - click the martui link. It can certainly be done...

Jas.
i just don't think it would be worth the work, you would be better off replacing the coily parts and building some sort of cage to stop it being damaged it would be less work and would not look as bad there are big differences between the frames.
coily front end can be bolted on to wt with bonnet mods but does not line up with the cowl section. these picture sorta show the differences, i think they are even different widths, you would have to make a custom wt frame for it to look right and then that defeats the purpouse of interchangability in the future
