I was wondering who else has 35's on their patrol, what brand of muddies are they and what they paid for them.
I think that I will have to do diff centre ratios as well
I have been reading the other thread about lifts and tyre size so I expect that they will clear fine with a 4 inch coil lift but if they dont I can always add a 2 inch body lift.
No you cant fit 35's to a GQ they implode then explode. Really nasty stuff.
How about you hit the search button. Nothing has changed in 6 yrs of this forum existing as to fitting 35's to a GQ.
Similar thing to all the MT 35's threads.
About the only info I will give, is MTZ's and MT Claws where popular at Deni.

i have BFG'S m/t's i find them great had silverstone's before just as good i thought
i paid 800 for six of them with 95% tread left on them from the outer's tyres for sale section i left my diff's as 4.1 just means speedo say 95km when i doning 100km

I agree with the above... This search BS (instead of just going onto something you want to read or give info on) all the time is about the only thing letting this forum down right now and for sometime..
From the original post i got that he had searched, he did find info, he didnt find the exact info he was looking for and then done what this whole forum is about... ASKING Questions..
However from the 2 posts below it all i got from those is you did not read the first post very well and you wasted your time and everyone else's from replying..
As to the original post, the most types of 35's ive seen or had driven in or on with a gq is micky thompson claws or mtr's.. Both of these come across as a good looking and performing tyre for the price, they also last a while.

Not 35`s but I did run Hankook M/T`s on my old Hilux.They where pretty good (I thought anyway) but the only down side I found was that once they started to wear they worn quickly .I used to rotate them every 5,000k`s.But for a cheap MT or your first set to see if you like the noise wet weather handling etc could worth it.They are pretty cheap
I am running Goodyear Wrangler MTR's on 15x8 rims in 35"
to be honest they are great compromise tyre, they won't beat a MT Baja Claw for climbing rocks but out of the rest of the MT's out there they are the best of the pack, i have tried Goodrich MT's and they are too hard a compound, they last longer on road, but don't get you up as much off road. The Hankook MT's aren't too bad, they are similar in pattern to Goodrich tires but are a softer compound.
Kumho Venture tires are OK for cheapo's but i wouldn't use them again.
Can't comment on Pro comps or coopers but i can on Goodrich vs Wrangler.

35" BFG muds, I alternate them with road tyres so they last me for yonks.
It won't mean jack sh*t telling you how much they cost but for comparison's sake between New Zealand and 'Western New Zealand' they cost $NZD395ea
Mate l use 35 STT Coopers and so do my 4 other mates we love them but l do suggest have a set of wheels for the rd and off rd tyres and l can get those for $330 a tyre....l am in melbourne
I am not so sure I need a set of 'road' tyres and a set of off road tyres. My GQ is a play thing and is only taken out once a month for run through the bush or heading off for the weekend camping, not a daily driver - have a work car for that
I have had the Cooper STT's before and loved them but they arent cheap. I currently have BFG's and likewise they are great, probably not as good as the STT's in my opinion but have a limited budget for new tyres so need something 'cheap' but capable
I have a set of 33" BFG muds for day to day and average trips and a set of 35" Maxxis Creepy Crawlers on a beadlocked 8" rim for play.
The Maxxis aren't bad, very stiff side walls. Need to drop them down to about 7-8PSI to flatten them out a bit. Not sure if I would buy them again or not, time will tell.

I run the maxxis bighorn, and i couldn't be more impressed with them.
i have had BFG, Wranglers, Kings, Baja CLaws, duellers and now these, and i will definitly be getting another set. mine are only 33's, but i am thinking of selling them for 35's in the same brand. Was qouted somewher around the $275 mark fitted about 2 months ago.
once you have a tyre like pedes, you think any other tyre like a claw or mtz or even as low as a bfg muddy, are a total waste of time if you want to get anywhere. bfg muddies should be a road tyre, they suk in mud. Trepadores are provong to be pretty good too very similar to a pede, if not better.
Hey Curly, have you any pics of your 3" lifted rig with 35's, i'm currently running 33's and 3" lift, and would like to go bigger......just not too sure. GQ or GU????
I just put 35 Maxxis Trepadors on my GQ....
Love them so far, haven't changed diff ratios. Drive good on road and when let down to 12PSI unreal off road.
I have put 35" STT Coopers under mine. Had a 4" spring lift done but the guards used to rub on the front wheels just above the mud flaps. Did a chop on the front guards and put on custom mud flaps. All is good now. Did a chop on the rear guards to get the mud flaps back further away from the tyres coz I ripped the back mudflaps off when reversing in soft beach sand. Extended the bump stops so I didn't push a wheel up through a wheel arch. Have tried to stay away from the body lift. If I run out of room under the bonnet I may have no option but for now, I am happy.
The STT's are a lot more noisy than the all terrains I used to have on it and the wheel balancing is not as perfect as I would like but they are bloody big tyres, so I would expect to have to make some minor sacrifices. Goes a treat off road compared to how it used too.
Swapped the diffs out of a GQ 2.8lt turbo diesel. The higher revving 2.8lt engine uses lower ratio diffs. Now the speedo is accurate to +/- 2% and the crawling has slowed back down to normal.
In short, a fair bit of rooting around but I feel it was worth it.

thanks muddytroll, mine has the same 4 inch lift so your info is greatly appreciated. I dot mind having to cut the guards a bit to get them the flex without rubbing. you mention longer bump stops, where did you get them from?
what ratio are the diffs in the 2.8's
and, lastly, would you have a pic of your truck so I could see what the whole shebang looks like, pretty tuff I reckon
just answered my own question muddytroll. I had a look through your previous posts and saw that you mention your ratios as 4.6's, is that still the case and is that the standard ratio from a 2.8TD, if so, I will hunt around for a pair of them instead of having to rebuild the original diffs with lower ratios
